Chapter 53

"M-mommy I want to go again!" Maya whines.

"Angel, please keep it down," I say as I pick her up. I rub her back as comfort not knowing what else to say. I was growing worried that Maya was acting like this due to the number of people surrounding us. It was crazy, but she was having too much fun to leave.

"We can go for ice cream and come back!" Noah exclaims. Once Maya hears his suggestion, she stops her whining immediately.

"Yes!" Maya yells in excitement. I smile at Noah, he was a lifesaver.

Once again, we started walking towards the dining area for the ice cream. The crowd also moved with us, following our trail. Thank god I decided to disguise myself. If I was also in the center of attention, I would have pulled my hair out. It was stressful just being around Noah, Asher, and Ethan. It's not like it was their fault either.

"Noah, Emily, and I will be back with the ice cream. You all can rest until we come back," Ethan suggests.

"Thank you, Ethan!" I yell over the crowd. My feet were killing me after carrying Maya around.

"This is crazy! How do you handle this?" Amelia asks Asher and me.

"I was born into this. My father had his company running by the time Addilyn and I were born. We just had to get used to it. I must say it was frustrating at points," Asher confesses as he takes Maya out of my hands. He places her on his lap, giving me time to rest.

"On the other hand, I had to get used to it once my mom announced my adoption. I panicked a lot before I got used to it. Now, it's just something I can't avoid," I add.

"I guess being famous has its downs. You don't think something will happen, right?" Amelia asks worriedly.

"It depends. There are times where it gets out of control, that's when we got to run. So far, it looks like it won't get to that extent."

"If it does happen, I take Maya with me and run the heck out of this place. I won't attract a single person. However, if someone was to follow, you know I won't hesitate to send them into dreamland," Amelia jokes.

"I know you won't hesitate, let's just hope it's not necessary," I smile at her.

"We are back!" Noah yells excited as he hands us our ice cream. Maya basically drools once she sees the cone filled with chocolate ice cream.

"You won't believe what Noah almost did!" Emily exclaims as she sits down.

"What did he do?" I ask, he probably did something stupid.

"He almost bought every single bucket of ice cream," Ethan sighs.

"Why would he do that?" Asher asks confused.

"We agreed not to tell them! Fine, I couldn't decide on a flavor, I just wanted to make things easier for me," Noah says embarrassed. Emily rubs his arm sneakily as comfort. However, I caught on, nothing ever goes unnoticed from me.

"Remind me to go next time," Asher teases.

"Ashy!" an annoying voice yelled over the crowd. I knew the voice too well, but I closed my eyes wishing I was wrong.

"Don't tell me it's her," Noah pleads.

"It is," Amelia groans.

I turn my head slightly to see her small group of bodyguards helping her get close to us. My guards were alarmed at her sudden presence. However, I nod at them to let her in. We couldn't cause a scene in front of everyone. First off, her father would have a word with Noah, Asher, or Ethan's parents. Then, the people surrounding us would make it a big deal. I look at Asher, he forcibly nods at my actions. He knew too well we had to be on our best behavior out in public.

"Asher I missed you!" Tatiana exclaims once she reaches us. Maya jumps on Asher's lap at her voice. She looks at Tatiana and she has a terrified expression. Since Tatiana was closer to Asher, she quickly jumps towards me. Once Maya wasn't on his lap, Tatiana throws herself onto him. She hugs him desperately.

I was mad, but I couldn't do anything with Maya around. I scoff, was I invisible or something?

Amelia starts to get up, probably to remove her from Asher's lap, but Ethan holds her back. Noah and Emily are too shocked to say anything. Asher pushes her off immediately once he gets back into his sense.

"What are you doing?" Asher yells, just loud enough to be heard between us.

Tatiana was about to respond but stops herself once her eyes land on me.

"Oh! Nessa is here too! You still are after him, pleading for his attention?" she chuckles. I saw red, I was too distracted by my anger to notice Maya jumping out of my lap. I got up from my seat, I was determined to knock some sense into her. I didn't care that everyone was looking at us anymore.

"Tatiana please leave before you cause a scene," I warn her.

"What are you going to do? I can just simply knock those stupid glasses out of your face and you won't see me anymore," Tatiana teases.

"Get lost, Tatiana! You are the one pleading for Asher's attention. You are too oblivious to the fact that Asher chose Vanessa over you," Amelia smirks.

"I didn't ask for your opinion, Amelia. Why don't you worry about your own relationship? You could be exactly like your mother, a cheater."

"Enough!" Ethan demands.

"Stay out of it Ethan. Asher, you just need to wake up and realize Vanessa isn't the one for you," Tatiana puts her hand on Asher's chest. I was about to push her off but a cry stops me from ripping her hand out.

"M-mommy!" Maya cries.

"Angel!" I run towards her. I check her out, looking for the reason she is crying.

"L-look," Maya points to her clothing. I notice the wet stain she had all over her clothes. I look at her feet, an empty bottle of water was right next to her.

"Oh! I guess Abby is good at noticing trash just like you Nessa," Tatiana laughs as she sees Maya's state. I wish I was wrong but a girl was standing next to Tatiana, looking proudly. It didn't take a genius to see the similarities between the two, of course, two bratty bitches would be related to each other.

I knew this 'Abby' did it. She hurt my precious angel.

"Here! Now, you two match!" Tatiana says as she throws an ice cream at me. The ice cream made my clothes all dirty. I knew I had to defend Maya, I had to step in for her.

"Do you know who you are messing with?" I laugh.

"Get down from your cloud Vanessa. You're acting so tough for nothing," Tatiana smiles confidently. Asher was about to intrude but I place my hand on his chest.

"No, I get to do this myself," I whisper for him to hear. "I tried warning you Tatiana," I smile at her.

I take a deep breath, it was time I lived without secrets.

I must say it was amazing to see her face once I took off my wig and glasses.
