How Dare You [Keep It Together Part 1](22)

Start from the beginning

"Yeah!" I agreed. I turned, and walked back to the cubical. I set Laurel down, letting her hands grab around my ankle boots. I got my things together, taking my gun with me. "Come on Laurel," Like I needed to say that. Laurel did however, take my hand, and walk out. I lead the little girl to my little grey car, unlocking it with a click of the remote. I helped Laurel into the back, internally kicking myself because I didn't have a car seat with me for her.

I got into the driver's seat, and started the engine. "Do you want heat, or air conditioning?" I asked, smiling at her in the rearview mirror.

"I don't really care. Anything's fine." She replied smiling back.

"Alright. I'm fine so, we'll just leave it off for now." I had left my bag in the back with Laurel, so when my phone started ringing, I asked her to pull it out for me. "Who's calling?" I already had a suspicion based on what song was playing.

"Uh... Someone named 'Little Blue Boy'. But boy is spelt weird." She replied, a bit confused.

I laughed. "That's Ethan. Pick up will you? And put it on speaker." I pulled out of the NCIS, and started down the road, the sunset behind us. It was about 1940. (7:40) She did so.

"Hey Effy, what's up?" I asked, turning left.

"Hey lass, I just wanted to ask you a favour."

"Name it!"

"I'm going out of town for about 3 days, and I was wondering if you could watch Pence?" Pence was Ethan's dog.

"YES! Oh my goodness I would love to dog sit. This couldnt've come at a better time actually."

"Perfect! Thanks a ton lass! Key's inside the blue ball in the front lawn. Thanks again!"

"Yeah, of course! Anytime Ethan!"

"Alright, bye then!"

"Bye bye!" Ethan hung up. I giggled.

"Who was that?" Laurel asked.

"My friend Ethan." I explained. "We're going to be staying at his place. But first, we're stopping by my house for some essentials."

I unlocked my front door, and stepped inside as Laurel followed me. I lead her into my bedroom after re-locking the door. I opened my closet, and pulled out the box labeled,

Ellie 6-7 and a half years

"Here you go, pick out whatever you like." I said smiling, shoving the box towards Laurel.

"Wait... really?" She asked excited.

"Yeah! They're too small for me anyways!" I agreed happily. Laurel giggled, and pulled the lid off, digging through the folded clothes. I giggled, and pulled out a duffle bag for Laurel to put the clothes and things in, then got my high school back pack for me to use. My phone started ringing as Laurel and I were getting our things together. It started plying Battle Scars by Paradice Fears. (Highly Recommend)

"Could you toss me that please?" I asked Laurel, pointing to my phone behind her. She nodded, and obliged. I picked up. "Hey Switzerland, what is it?" I asked. Back in about 4th grade or so, I nicknames Jack Switzerland because he almost never took a side in fights. Unless of course he was one of the original perpetrators.

"Hey Anna, what'cha'doing?" He asked, and I could hear a washing machine spinning in the background. He must be at the laundromat then.

"Just working. Speaking of which, I will be for this next week. It's a complicated one."

"Okay then. I just wanted to ask you something."

"Shoot."

"What are your thoughts on ant eaters?" I shook my head.
