Chapter fourteen

Johnny turned to Carmen, who smiled sadly at them.

A few hours passed and Maeve was still laying on her bed listening to songs to make her feel better.

She was determined to not let Sam get under her skin again, but it was so hard.

Suddenly her phone lit up.

Maeve quickly grabbed it and saw that it was from Miguel.

'Hey, can we meet up outside? I really need to talk to you.'

She sighed and agreed.

The blond was slightly anxious, no it knowing what he wanted to talk about.

When she opened the door, Miguel was already waiting for her with his hands in the pockets of his jeans.

He smiled softly and walked towards her.

"Hey, I wanted to apologize for earlier. I didn't mean to snap at you like that." He apologized to her.

Maeve smiled tightly back at him. "It's ok."

"No, it's not. I just feel like such a loser. I mean I was last years champion and now I can't even kick a stupid frisbee out of somebody's hand." He told her, running his hand trough his hair in frustration.

"It's gonna be ok. I mean look how quickly you got on your feet again. I'm sure it'll all come back to you in no time" She told him.

"Yeah. Thanks." He smiled and pulled her in for a hug.

"So... are you going to the meeting?" Miguel asked.

Maeve shook her head.

"No, I don't want to deal with whatever my dad'll do if he doesn't get the tournament back on again." She told him chuckling slightly.

Miguel frowned in confusion.

"But I-I thought he wasn't going?" He asked.

Maeve smiled. "I know how much he loves karate. He'll go, trust me." The blond said, making a smile spread across his face.

"All right, I'll see you later?" Miguel asked, walking backwards.

"Yeah, definitely." She told him, throwing their famous hand guns at him.

Miguel returned the gesture and watched as she entered her apartment with a smile.

Once Maeve was in her room again, her phone suddenly began to ring.

It was an unknown number, but she decided to answer anyway.

"Hello?"

"Hey, Maeve. It's me Robby, do you want to hang out?" Her half-brother asked from the other end of the line.

Maeve smiled.

"Yes, when and where?" She asked.

"I'm in the area, so I can pick you up and we can go hang out in the park or something?" He asked, making her grin.

"All right, we'll go eat somewhere and then we'll go to the park." She told him, making Robby chuckle.

"Ok, I'll be there in five."

"All right, bye." She told him and they hung up.

Maeve was about to put her phone down when she noticed another text message. Only this one was from Hawk.

'The offer still stands if you wanna come by.'

For some reason this made her blush.

And just thinking about being alone with him made her heart beat faster.
