"Wow." Katie whispered as the guests rose to their feet and her father escorted her down the aisle.
A stream of bridesmaids followed behind, planning each step cautiously.
Andrea had decided beforehand that she would escort her cousin instead of her best friend, a decision that hadn't been made lightly.
A petite black haired girl emerged into the clearing that separated the ceremony and Andrea.
"I haven't seen you since you were a little kid." Andrea commented with a smile, scooping the girl into her arms.
"Does she know I'm here?" The timid girl asked, a strong Welsh accent evident.
"No, it's going to be a surprise... You're going to walk down that aisle when i tell you to, dropping these rose petals as you do so and she will see you at the front when she walks." Andrea instructed as she heard rustling of leaves in the distance.
"Okay... go now." Andrea ushered the young teen to the clearing.
"Why did you make me wear my heels now, should have taken a leaf out of McGrath's book and worn Ugg's." Charlotte complained as she traipsed through the damp forest.
"And that's how to make a good first impression." Andrea's American accent greeted as Charlotte visibly jumped in shock.
"You're here?! Where's Katie?" Charlotte exclaimed, giving the blonde a quick hug.
"She's already gone... I wanted to do the honours of walking you down the aisle as I'm the closest you have to family." Andrea smiled sincerely as Charlotte squealed softly.
Andrea extended her hand to the bride as they walked carefully around the tree and into view, the music serenading the guests once again.
Charlotte released an audible gasp as she saw her gorgeous wife to be directly in front of her but the tears began to stream when she saw the younger child.
Once they had reached the front of the crowd, everybody was seated.
The bridesmaids were split evenly on either side, Niamh bearing the rings to Katie and Eliza for Charlotte.
"Happy birthday." The brunette whispered, trying to keep her jaw attached to her face.
"Thank you." Charlotte smiled, a blush covering her cheeks.
"Your dress... it's perfect." Katie complimented, trying to keep her eyes focussed on the sapphire ones of the blonde.
"You always did say you loved my designs." Charlotte mumbled timidly, earning a gasp from the brunette.
"You made it?" She loudly whispered, causing the blonde to blush a deep shade of pink.
"Yeah... it's been so difficult since you are with me almost 24/7." She giggled as Katie recollected herself.
