"I'm okay Spence, it'll pass." Toby said as he gave her a small, but yet still reassuring smile. "Okay, if you're sure. We'll just keep going with our conversation. How was your training?" Spencer asked him. "It was fine. I had a pretty good time, except for you not being there. I'm just glad that we were able to talk a lot over the phone and FaceTime." Toby said and Spencer nodded. "Yeah, me too. "I'm glad that you had a good time, despite you pushing yourself too hard, and despite what you're having to go through right now." Spencer said. "Well the perfect time would've been me not having to go away from my girl for two weeks to get the training done, but it was worth it because I want to do everything that I can to protect you." Toby said.
"Tobes, I'm sorry." Spencer said suddenly, he looked at her curiously. "Sorry for what?" He asked her. "About the fight that you had with your dad over you joining the force." Spencer said. "Spence, that's not on you." Toby said. "But you joined the force to protect me, so yeah I feel like it is my fault." Spencer said and Toby shook his head. "Babe, I don't want to hear you blaming yourself. How many times have I told you that you never have to say you're sorry?" Toby said sweetly and she playfully rolled her eyes. "You're the one who's in a lot of pain right now, and you're still trying to make me feel better." Spencer said. "Because I don't want you blaming yourself, it's not your fault. I mean things have always been complicated for me and my dad since we lost my mom, and that's certainly not on you." Toby said and Spencer nodded. "I know, but still." She said. "Stop blaming yourself Spence." Toby said and Spencer nodded in defeat. "Okay, fine. I'll stop, but only because I don't want you stressing yourself out anymore from worrying about me." She said. "Fair enough, thank you." Toby said as he smiled softly at her and she smiled back at him.
"Okay, is there anything I can do for you now? Like do you feel like eating? Because I can get you some saltine crackers if you want." Spencer asked him and he smiled softly at her. "What?" She asked him. "Nothing, it's just cute seeing you in nurse mode." Toby said and Spencer playfully rolled her eyes. "Well that's because I love you." She said. "I love you too." Toby said. "Okay, do you want me to get you some saltines?" Spencer asked him, but he shook his head. "No thanks, not yet anyway." He said and Spencer nodded. "Alright, what about some tea with honey?" She asked and Toby nodded. "Yeah, sure. That sounds good." He said and Spencer nodded. "Okay, I'll be right back." She said, smiling softly at him before gently kissing his forehead and then she went to the kitchen and started to make the tea leaving Toby on the couch by himself, he groaned softly as he laid down on the couch, he seriously wished that the pain would just go away already. "Tobes, you alright over there?" Spencer called over to him, the concern evident in her voice. "Mmhmm, I'm fine." Toby insisted but she knew better than that, she just hoped that the tea would help soothe him a little bit.
Ten Minutes Later
"Here, try this." Spencer said as she sat back down next to him and handed him his mug with the tea with honey, he smiled softly at her as he took the mug into his hands. "Thanks Spence."
He said before taking a sip of the tea. "You're welcome." Spencer said as she smiled softly at him. "Seriously, I don't know what I would do without you." Toby said, smiling softly at her. "Don't worry about that because I'm not going anywhere." Spencer said. "I can't help but feel guilty though, about ruining our night." Toby said, Spencer shook her head. "Tobes, don't do that. Your health comes first. It's okay." She said, but he sighed softly before taking another sip of his tea. "Yeah, but-" He started but she interrupted him. No buts. Now, I'm going to change the subject because I don't want you feeling guilty anymore, how's the tea?" She said. "It's perfect, thanks Spence." Toby said as he smiled softly at her. "You're welcome, is there anything else you want to talk about to keep your mind off the ulcer?" Spencer asked him. "Yeah, I know that you probably would've mentioned it when we were on FaceTime, but, did you get any messages from -A while I was gone?" Toby asked her curiously, the concern evident in his voice. "Okay, no. We're not going to talk about -A right now." Spencer said. "But you just asked-" Toby started but was interrupted by Spencer. "Yeah, but I didn't mean other things to stress you out." She said. "But Spencer-" Toby said but she cut him off again. "Drink this and don't argue with me." She said as she referred to his tea, he then sighed in defeat. "Okay, okay. Point taken." He said before taking another sip of the tea. "Thank you." Spencer said. "Okay, changing the subject, how're you doing?" Toby asked her. "I'm fine Tobes, you don't need to worry about me." Spencer said. "Good, I just… I don't want to lose you." Toby said before looking down for a second, Spencer put her hand on her shoulder comfortingly. "Hey, as I just told you, I'm not going anywhere. Don't worry about that, you just focus on yourself right now, okay?" She said and he nodded. "Okay, I love you so much Spence." Toby said, smiling softly at her. "I love you too Tobes." Spencer said as she smiled softly at him before gently kissing his forehead as she wrapped her arm around him and he then laid his head on her shoulder.
