Things were quiet around Hogwarts for now. You returned to business as usual, even in the midst of your slowly (but surely) improving injury. You were thankful to be able to return to your classes full time. You realized that you had taken in-person education for granted after resorting to teaching yourself the material from your classes since being in the hospital. You had never been so happy to see Professor McGonagall in your entire life.

You resumed tutoring lessons with Neville, Lavender, and Seamus. You were a little disheartened to see that all three of them had a bit of a plummet in their Potions grade since your absence, but it wasn't anything you couldn't handle. On top of those three, you had gained two new students.

You weren't at all shocked that Ron Weasley was now being added to your group of kids. He was a little embarrassed to be seeking outside help, but he mainly was pinning the whole thing on the fact that Snape didn't like him. You loved Ron, so tutoring him would be a breeze. He'd keep you laughing too, which was always a plus.

While you were stoked about Ron, you were less so for your other new student.

Draco Malfoy.

You were sure that you had misheard Severus when he disclosed to you that Draco had been added to your list of students. Draco, from your understanding, had always performed well in Potions. You couldn't imagine that he was suddenly not doing well. You already had underlying issues with Draco, so having to work one-on-one with him would be a nightmare.

"You can't be serious," You pleaded to Severus, tailing him around his office like a confused puppy; "He's up to something. Draco has never had trouble with Potions."

Severus sighed heavily. He had already been through this a million times in his head already. he agreed that Draco was planning something or had other intentions with wanting to take up tutoring. A Malfoy seeking extra help? It was unthinkable.

Severus had a crate of new Potions books that he was putting onto his shelf.

"I understand that, but if any student begins doing poorly in my class, I'm required to send them to you," He looked at the book in his hand, then to you with a puzzled expression; "Why am I doing this? This is your job." He said, handing it to you and sliding the crate towards you.

You let out a throaty chuckle, taking his position in front of the bookshelf as he moved to sit at his desk. You ran your fingers over the faded green cover of the book, loving the smell of its newness. You slid it into an empty slot on the shelf, picking up a different one.

"I'm just saying that Draco Malfoy is the last kid I would ever expect to come to me for tutoring in a class that he excels at," You pointed out; "He's trying to get something out of me. He wants me to slip up."

Severus rubbed his temples stressfully. Draco was a sneaky kid, he was a Slytherin after all. Severus could definitely see Draco managing to get you to confess to something without realizing it. Draco would surely go running to his father if he had even a glimmer of evidence that you and Snape were sleeping together.

More power to Lucius, and Draco would earn a crumb more of his father's respect. It would be a win-win for young Draco.

"Be cautious then. I'll keep my eye on him as well," Snape told you; "He'll have to start doing well again at some point. He'll be out of your sessions the moment his grade improves."

You nodded, but were still uneasy about the whole thing. The room grew quiet as you continued shelving his books. He watched as you examined the cover of each one, thumbing through the page before putting it away. If a certain section caught your eye, you stop and skim over the words, perhaps even memorizing a page number to come back to it later. Not all of the books were Potions related, there were a few Dark Arts pieces, which struck you as odd.
