Nightmare never ends.
Lately, I have found myself scared. I couldn't go out without being paranoid. I felt like something bad was going to happen to me. I was leaving campus one afternoon when I thought I saw someone following me. This was not the first time. I had previously been followed and I informed the police about it which I guess they did something because the man suddenly stopped following me. I scanned the campus area and noticed few people were sitting by the garden bench. I decided to join them just to send a message to whoever was following me that I found him out.
A very tall man with ginger mohawk hair and piercings on both his nose and ears appeared standing few meters from where I sat. He seemed to be searching for something whilst checking his watch every time. Right at that moment, an idea popped in, "Hey. Could you do me a favour?" I asked one of the students next to me and nodded. After whispering something in her ears, I mouthed thank you and grabbed one of her books bringing it to my face and tried hiding. The girl walked to the man who barely looked at her as he seemed busy looking for something. I slowly walked away from there and rushed to the parking lot where I hopped in my car and drove away.
Not even 2 minutes had passed when a black van with tinted windows followed my car right behind. I took another turn hoping it will go the opposite direction but to my expectations, the car still followed me. I was scared. I tried rummaging through my bag to grab my phone but I couldn't. By then I was sweating. My heartbeat increased each second and I kind of wished I had superpowers to fly out of the situation. I tried one more time reaching for my phone but the van hit my car causing me to hit my head. "Ouch! That hurts" If they thought by hitting my bumper I would stop then they were wrong. I didn't care if I hit my head or not, I drove faster at 60 km.
I honked my horn at the cars in front of me and overspend away. I was wishing a police officer would stop me and hand me a ticket but it wasn't my lucky day. Few minutes of driving around in circles the van was nowhere to be seen. I chuckled "I did it!" as I slowed down at 10 km and reached for my phone before dialling 911.
"911 what's your emergency?"
I took a deep breath then yelled. "Someone is following me around. A black van with tinted windows has.."
The woman at the end of the receiver said. "I need you to calm down miss. Tell me, what's your name and why do you think someone is following you?"
I took another deep breath. "Talia. Talia Carter! I don't think someone is following. I am sure. A black van just...."
Unfortunately, I didn't get to finish my sentence because the same van came out of nowhere and hit my driver's side door back to the rears driver bumper making me lose control and crashed into a pole off the road. My head hit the staring wheel as I felt something sharp stab my neck. I wasn't sure I'll survive from the impact.
"Talia! Are you still there?" The 911 lady was still on the line.
"Hello!" the call ended.
A few minutes later, I slowly raised my head from the wheel as I screamed in pain. I touched my face and noticed the red liquid on my fingers. I traced my fingers on the stabbed part of my neck and screamed. Something like glass fragments stuck there. My window was broken leaving half of what was left as a souvenir. Luckily I wasn't badly injured because I had my seatbelt on and the airbags helped too. I carefully unbuckled as I wondered why someone would follow me and try to kill me. As far as I know, I'm harmless and never wronged anyone. I reached for my bag and grabbed my defence kit, which's my nail cutter and paper spray before opening the door and falling on the side.
"Ouch! It hurts a lot!" I said.
I gathered strength and slowly crawled meters away from the scene. I might have survived the impact but what if the pole falls on me? Or much worse on my car? I shook that idea off my mind. Even meters away the damaged front bumper couldn't go unnoticed. Smoke was coming from my engine.
I screamed. "No. Not my car. Whoever you are show your stupid face!" I shouted to no one in particular as I firmly held my nail cutter ready to attack.
The same man from earlier on-campus clapped his hands and laughed. "You sure are something. I now understand. Haha,"
I frowned. "You were in my school earlier. What the fuck do you want?" I yelled while he stood there, hands folded over his chest as he shook his head and smiled.
"You are pretty and smart too!"
I spat. "So I've heard. I am sure you didn't stalk me all the way to tell me this"
He snapped his fingers laughing aimlessly. "Hahaha! I'll get to the point. Why don't you hop in the van silently and we could talk"
My mind screamed He tried to kill you.
Think.
"Why would I do that when you just tried to kill me"
He grinned revealing a set of fake silver teeth. "Well, you just have to trust your gut on this one"
I stood up and took few steps backwards. "Right now my gut tells me to run.." And I bolted from there not sure where to go.
He caught on and pushed me to the ground where I grazed my elbow. I didn't want him to notice I was in pain so I put on the tough act while I reached for my paper spray in my pocket.
"You thought you could outsmart me bitch? Get up before I lose it and hop in the van!" he shouted.
A silver Mercedes sedan passing by stopped and I silently thanked God. I screamed for help but the man next to me laughed like crazy leaving me wondering if I said something funny.
"Get up!" he said one more time before dragging me.
"Hey let her go! " a man shouted from the stopped car.
"Please help!" I yelled as the man neared.
"What the hell man?! Why are you mistreating her?" I already called the cops" he said.
At least the cops will be here in no time.
"I said get up! " The pierced man continued ignoring the kindly man.
It seems the kindly man wasn't pleased with all because he suddenly charged at the pierced man and pushed him aside. I felt a bit relieved, someone was brave enough to help me. I spoke too soon because the pierced guy punched my saviour who in turn return the favour. The two men tackled each other, with the rhythm of blows and kicks while I devised a plan to carefully get away from there and look for my phone somewhere in my car. The two men rolled on the grass as they continued fighting. My saviour was badly beaten while the other guy barely had a scratch. I feared for his life. I hurried to my car and rummaged through the seats. Thank goodness, I found my phone intact and I phoned the last person I didn't wanna see. "Hey, it's Jack. Please leave a message and I'll call back"
Where is he when you need him now?
Growing tired of reaching him, I called my best friend. "Please pick up ...pick up...."
I loudly wished and finally, I heard, "Whassup Tally?""Listen, I've got no time to explain but the breaking news is Someone followed me and tried to kill me."
Prem tried talking but I was quick to cut him.
"I don't know where I am because I drove to escape from the bastard. Don't worry, I am fine but he'll kill the man who was trying to save me if someone doesn't stop him. Track my cell, I don't know do something, call the cops...but don't call Jack...I..I.."
Something hit my head from behind and then everything went dark.
