"Good morning." Bethany says and places a mug in front of Tom.
"Thank you, darling." Tom smiles and takes a sip of the coffee. "This is really good."
"I make a good cup of coffee."
"Even with crappy set beans?"
Bethany laughs. "Is that what it's called? Well, then, yes. I make a good cup of coffee with crappy set beans. And, how was the time with your girls?"
"It was nice. They wanted to watch The Little Mermaid so we did that and I made dinner and then we did nails."
"Did they do yours?"
"Arielle insisted." Tom chuckles. "She did them bright pink. She understood that I had to take them off last night though because of filming. I don't think that Jonathan is a very bright pink nail polish kind of guy."
"Agreed. Probably more of a black. If he was feeling happy that day, a dark grey."
"I think you're correct... so I was thinking we could do something soon. I don't know if you want to go out for a drink or take a walk or something."
"Sure. That sounds nice. I want to spend more time with you that's not all on set."
"Perfect. Um, well, where would you like to go?"
"You're the native, remember?" Bethany replies. "Completely up to you. I trust in your date choices."
"Is that what we're officially calling this?" Tom asks.
"If that's okay with you."
"That's perfectly fine with me, darling."
"Are we doing something tonight, tommorow night..."
"We have a reading today and no filming, correct?"
"Correct. We're getting off at like 4."
"Alright then. How about I pick you up at 7? I'll spend that time with my girls and then they'll be in bed by 8 anyway so it's not like I'm missing much."
"Sure. I can drive to your house this time if you want. You can drive the actual car, I trust you, but I'll pick you up and then you can have more time with your girls. I can park a block away if you want to keep this secret. Well, I mean, I'm still having trouble backing in but you get it."
"That... actually makes more sense because I'm closer to the place I'm taking you to."
"You can't tell me what we're doing? What should I wear?"
"I'm wearing a suit but it's nothing too fancy. You're perfectly in jeans and boots if you'd rather."
"Well now I feel underdressed."
"Don't. Just wear something decently nice. I mean, you always look beautiful but-" Tom stops and realizes what he just said. "Please forgive me, I lost-"
"You're apologising for calling me beautiful?" Beth says.
"I... I guess I am."
"You're insane." she chuckles. "Alright, I'm gonna go sit down and get ready for the read. I'll see you in there."
"Yes, see... see you there."
Bethany smiles as she walks away. Tom watches the way her sweater sways in the air as moves, the way her feet gently bounce off of the ground and with each step, the way her hair dusts her back. He was captivated.
That Night
Tom stands in the mirror and fixes his suit. Arielle and Arabella sit on Tom's bed, playing dolls.
