"Hey," he spoke up, taking your face and lifting your eyes to his. "I really appreciate it."
You smiled. "You do?"
Hiro nodded. "Do you know how to use your bot yet?"
"Not yet. I just finished it not too long ago."
"Well. It seems like you need a lesson before we do anything."
So the two of you headed off to a park near SFIT, where Hiro and his gang take classes in the day. By this time, a breeze had started picking up, and you shivered in your jacket. The sky had definitely become darker in the time you two walked to the park.
"You okay?" Hiro asked you.
"Just a bit cold," you replied, not looking at him.
Hiro shyly put an arm around you as he lead you to an empty basketball court. He located the centre ring on the court and stopped walking.
"You'll need a bit of lessons before you can consider actually bot fighting," he told you. "Sit on the other end of the ring. I'll be on this side."
Stunned, you walked over to the other end of the court and sat down, cross legged, your bot just in front of you. Hiro smiled as he set his megabot down in front of him.
"Okay, so...it's technically not my business to know your bot's abilities," he began, "but just this time I'll ask what they are."
"One arm has a detachable spike wheel," you started. "The other arm has a detachable trident. And it is quite speedy." You gave a knowing smile. "I kind of got inspired by your bot."
"Good," he smiled. "Now let's pretend we're in a real ring then. The ref would start off by saying, 'two bots enter, one mod leaves', and holds a parasol in front of the bots so that both bots can attack at the same time. You know where I'm going with that?"
"Yeah. I've done some martial arts before."
"Alright then. You ready, (Y/N)?"
"Wait wait wait. What's going--"
"Fight!"
Hiro quickly activated his megabot. With a look of shock registered on your face, you pressed a button on your remote controller and your bot advanced forward. Before you could blink, your bot started going hectic, swaying its arms back and forth and losing its balance, and Hiro stopped his bot before it could strike upon registering your shocked look.
"What happened to your bot?" Hiro asked, concerned, putting his remote controller down and heading over to you.
"No idea," you muttered.
"Have you tried this bot out yet?" he asked, sitting beside you.
You shook your head.
"Can I take a look at it?"
You nodded, handing the bot to Hiro for him to examine. Then you watched in amazement as Hiro started rewiring some parts inside the bot and also fixed some of the joints, then handed it back to you.
"That's amazing!"
"I've been told by my brother to always use my big brain for something useful," he shrugged. "But anyway. I fixed it for you. Now let us resume the fight."
You smiled at him gratefully and gave him a big hug. "Thank you."
Hiro laughed shakily as he returned the hug briefly, then he let go, resumed his place, and you two started over. This time, your bot moved smoothly and every mechanism worked properly. You managed to pin Hiro's megabot down with your bot's trident arm, but Hiro's megabot detached itself and reassembled itself outside of the prongs of your trident, and you quickly made your bot advance and jump up, landing lightly on his own megabot and slicing his bot up quickly with your spinning spiky wheel.
"Whoa. That was pretty quick," you marveled, getting up and wiping the sweat off of your brow. "You know something, Hiro? I really want to challenge Yama some day and get him and his bots off the charts. Maybe I'll end up beat up and arrested but after this I think I'm ready."
Hiro laughed as he approached you, lacing his fingers with yours and squeezing your palms together. "I'll be with you when that happens. I promise."
"Really?"
"You're not a bad bot fighter for a start."
You didn't realize that you were leaning forward as you looked into his eyes. Before you knew it, Hiro closed the gap between your lips and his, and you closed your eyes as he did, feeling the new surge of energy resonate within you and spread all over your body. Your fingers immediately dove into Hiro's messy yet soft black hair, and Hiro pulled you in closer to him, completely lost in the moment.
You broke off first, opening your eyes and scrunching Hiro's hair with your hand. "Thank you, oh great bot fighting master."
"Any time," he laughed. "Anyway, I think that's enough bot fighting for me tonight."
"Really?! But you were going to--"
"Nahh. I don't really want to go anymore. I think that already equates to the best bot fight I ever had tonight. At least we didn't bet on this fight. As I tell my brother, 'bot fighting is not illegal, but betting on bot fighting is.'" He laughed and picked up his bot and controller, and took your hand. "Shall I take you home?"
You put your controller in your pocket and took Hiro's hand. "Of course. I thought you'd never ask."
And the two of you headed back to your place, hand in hand, as you thought, YES!

A.N.
Okay I'll admit it when I say that the title was inspired by that Barbie song, "To be a Princess". Doesn't matter which version. But heh, that was where I got the inspiration for this story. I hope this is good. I don't know if I can get a Tadashi x Reader story done today but this was lots of fun to write.
As always, PLEASE comment any requests you have, and I'll get them done as soon as possible. I'll even dedicate the stories to you! I mean, how awesome would that be?! :)
Anyway, that's it for now. Peace out.
