"There's no such thing as forever," Beatrice frowned.
"If it's Dio, then I think there is." I couldn't help smiling at the thought. "He's the ambitious type, so if anyone can make it happen, it's him."
I could feel the judgement in Beatrice's eyes, but I didn't expect her to understand me. I'd made my decision even if others disagreed. "You really think a human and a vampire can be together? It's not healthy. Have you looked in the mirror at all those bite marks and scratches? It's not normal. You . . . you're not normal. Are you even human?"
I blinked in surprise. Did she really put all that together just from what I said, or is she just saying things? "Of course I'm human," I answered, a little bewildered.
"Then why do I feel like you're not?" She asked. "You were speaking strangely before, like you've been alive for a long time. Plus, only someone who's not human could be with a monster like Dio. It makes sense that you'd be alright with his terrible actions and find him attractive, too. Both of you are monsters. You're made for each other," the woman laughed. "What are you?"
I sighed. "I'm human, but I've lived multiple lifetimes," I admitted. "I guess you could say I'm just really old."
Beatrice frowned. "So you're immortal?"
Before I could answer, the zombie's voice called from somewhere outside the cell. "I'm back~!"

Beatrice and I turned to see the door to the cell swinging open. Before either of us could rush out, something else came in. No, two things. One was a large figure that fell to a heap on the floor. The appeared to be a strange animal with a human face that ran straight underneath the cot in the corner of the room like it was afraid to be seen.
The zombie smiled, showing his sharp teeth. "Here she is. That lovely sister you've been searching for all this time. And it's not right if I only brought my little kitten a treat, so you get one too, Freya. Even though you don't deserve one."
Why was this zombie so hostile to me for no reason. I sneered at him "Well I didn't want one anyways," I shot back.
Beatrice ran for her sister and fell to her knees beside the figure on the floor. "Chelsea!" She cried. "You're alright."
Chelsea raised her head and my eyes widened at her shriveled features and pale complexion. "Get away from her!" I exclaimed. "She's a zombie."
Beatrice's eyes widened and she froze, not moving closer to her sister, but not moving away either. "You're wrong . . . that can't be . . ." But despite her denials, one look at Chelsea made it obvious that I was speaking the truth. It was hard to mistake Chelsea's features for that of a human. "Chelsea, I'll help you. Don't worry. We can fix this together." Beatrice said.
I didn't think zombification was something that could be 'fixed,' but I decided to keep my mouth shut. It was strange, though. Didn't Dio want an evil, murderous army? Why would this normal woman be zombified? Then again, Beatrice seemed a little crazy, so who was to say that Chelsea wasn't secretly a murderer or something. It was a question I'd have to ask Dio later.
