Chapter 13/24 -- Misunderstandings and Stitches

Start from the beginning

Alphys growled and shook her arm downwards, which made the axe disappear. "Fine." Sans grinned and let the bones break apart, the cage around her falling to pieces and disappearing. Without another glance Alphys walked to the door of her hut. She looked to Undyne, who gave her a nervous smile, and walked inside. The three stood there awkwardly for a second before Sans spoke up.

"Are you two ok?" he asked. Undyne and Y/n nodded.

"Yes, we are. I'm sorry I wasn't able to talk her out of it...I tried though," Undyne said, her hands fiddling with her white coat. "She has a hot temper, a-and especially since...since the humans locked us down here. She just wants to help everyone, and the only way to do that is to free them from the Underground. O-or at least, that's how she sees it..."

"Yeah, sorry Y/n," Sans added, looking to the human. "Are you ok...?"

Y/n's head snapped up at the mention of her name. "Hm? O-oh yeah I'm fine," she managed to say. But, truth is... I'm terrified of myself. This is the second time in a battle where I've lost control of my body and attacked. First Sans, now Alphys. What is going on that's making me so- so- powerful? I don't even know what to call it. Another thought hit her. "Sans? How did you know my soul wouldn't work for the Barrier thing?"

"Oh, Papy told me!" he answered simply. "Right after you and I met, Papy told me not to capture you because you're a grown-up and you don't have a pure soul trait (no offence). So I listened to him and here we are. Well, I mean obviously, if I hadn't listened to him you would've been captured by now." Y/n rolled her eyes and Undyne stifled a giggle. Sans ignored them.

"Well, um, since you're here and you seem to be f-fine, maybe I should take Y/n back to Snowdin while you sort things out with Alphys?" Undyne said, her face turning slightly red. Sans's expression turned thoughtful for a second before he grinned wider and laughed.

"Heh, yeah, sounds good Undyne!" he said, as he bounded to the door of Alphy's house. "I'm gonna talk to Alphys. See ya later guys!"

The ride home was short and filled with silence. Y/n nor Undyne knew what to talk about. There was nothing to talk about. They were both stuck in their own thoughts.

Soon enough they reached Snowdin. "Tra, la, la, come again sometime," Riverperson said, waving the girls off as they walked into the snowy town. Y/n said a thank you and they walked to the end of town, hoping to get there without too many weird looks. The girl clutched her arm as the cold nipped at her bare skin, she tried to focus on walking and not on the searing pain that shot through her arm.

"A-are you ok Y/n?" Undyne asked worriedly.

"Yeah. A-Alphys got me good though, I m-might have to get stitches or something for this one," Y/n laughed. Undyne gave her a look of concern but quickened her pace to the skeleton brother's house at the end of the main street.

Undyne knocked on the door. No one answered. She mumbled something about a "lazy douche" and knocked harder. Y/n snickered.

"What's so funny, honey? (oh hey that rhymed)." Y/n jumped at the sudden low voice and whipped around. Papyrus was standing over them as they were huddled in front of the door to his house. "Did you two need something...?"

"Papyrus, how are you?" Undyne asked quickly, stepping in front of Y/n. He looked at her in confusion before getting what she meant and turned a slight orange color.

"Oh, I'm fine. Thanks for asking," he replied with a grin. Undyne relaxed a little and stepped off the porch.

"Ok, well, I think you can handle her from here," she said, pulling her coat closer around her thin frame. "I have to get back to the lab, a-and Y/n needs your help. So, um, I'll just get going."
