I turned towards the door, slipping on a pair of flip flops on the way.
"Callie."
"I'm not hell bent on you yelling at me. But since waking up you have been tense and quiet and while you are tending to me, it feels like you are repulsed by the idea of being near me more than you have to. So, yes, I would rather get yelled at and let you get all that anger out then to sit here and feel like I have made you hate me."
"Cal..""I'm going to get breakfast." I mumbled.
I opened the door and walked down the stairs. I quickly pulled my hair loose from the french braid and let it fall to curtain my face. I walked into the kitchen and was grateful there was no one currently in it. I walked over to the pantry and opened it, quickly finding the cereal loaded with sugar. I grabbed a box of Fruit loops and placed it on the counter before grabbing a bowl and spoon and opened the fridge. Whole milk, coconut milk, almond milk, soy milk, and oat milk. I grabbed the oat milk because I don't use whole milk and the other ones would taste weird with fruity cereal.
I poured myself a bowl of cereal before putting away the milk and sitting down on a stool. I ate slowly so as to not upset my stomach. By the time I had finished other people had come and gone in the kitchen, but Ryland had yet to make an appearance. I stood up from my seat and walked over to the dishwasher, placing my dirty bowl and spoon into it. I turned to leave and noticed Michael walking in.
"Callie, Your sister and her family are here. They are outside waiting for you."
"Thank you."I moved quickly, heading for the front door. I flung the door open and rushed out. My eyes located Ruby, Emma, and Evan to the right of the house, conversing with Ryland.
"Emma!" I yelled, jogging in that direction.
"AUNTIE CALLIE!" She squirmed until Evan set her down.
Emma ran over to me and I crouched down catching her in my arms, I lifted her as I hugged her, ignoring the sharp pain in my wrist as I did so.
"I missed you so much, Bean."
"I miss you too, Auntie."
She pulled back and her hand twisted into a portion of my hair, a nervous habit she has. "Is that your mate?"
I glanced in their direction. "Yeah."
"Is you happy now?"
"I'm happy I get to see you."
"You no happy with your mate?"
"Some things.... Are complicated with adults, Bean. Remember how I'm human? For a Human, like me, being mated is scary. Especially to someone who is a Prince. So right now I'm uncomfortable and nervous, but I think I can be happy with him."
"Hey." Ruby said, approaching us.
Emma twisted and all her weight went onto my broken wrist. I gasped and my face twisted in pain.
"I sorry."
I placed her down on her feet. "It's okay, Bean. Why don't you go run around by Daddy, while Mommy and I talk?"
"Okay." She took off even though she looked like she was going to cry. Evan picked her up and started talking to her.
"Cal?"
"Yeah?"
"I'm sorry for what I said yesterday, It was really harsh of me to speak to you in that way."
