Chapter 52 - Doctor

"Wow. She's kind of awful now." Bucky says.

"Karli Morgenthau and at least seven others have taken the serum." I say.

"You guys really should steer clear of all of this for your own safety."

"We know it's a risk, but we won't leave until we find the one who cracked the code." Sam nods.

"We got a name. Wilfred Nagel." Bucky says.

"Nagel works for the Power Broker." Sharon stands.

"We need your help, Sharon. Sam and I can get your name cleared." I nod.

"You haggling with my life?" She asks.

"Not like that." Sam says.

"I don't buy that. You pretending like you can clear my name."

"Okay, maybe it is hypocrisy. Maybe you're right. What happened to you. But I'm willing to try if you are. They cleared the bionic staring machine, and he killed almost everybody he's met." Sam says.

"I heard that."

"I don't trust charity." Sharon says.

"It's not charity...I owe you." I nod. "For the way I treated you."

"It was only because of him." She points to Bucky.

"Theres no excuse." I sigh. "I needed to be put in check."

"All right, a deal then. You help us out, and I get your name cleared." Sam holds his hand out.

Sharon sighs as she shakes his hand, "Well, I sell to some pretty connected people. Lay low, blend in, enjoy the party. Try to stay outta trouble. I'll see what I can find."

"Trouble." Zemo nods.

I walk with the three into the large upbeat party. Bucky and I split off together, we stand aside and talk as we watch Zemo dance.

"So why the picture?" I ask.

"I kept it as a reminder." He nods.

"Of what?"

"To do good." Bucky slightly smiles.

"I am your reminder to do good? I'm flattered." I smile.

"Why the sudden change of attitude? Y/N I know that I will never have your forgiveness. I know what I did to you as the Winter Soldier...It still haunts me."

"You know Steve told me about what they did to you...he let me read your file. I guess just seeing you...normal. Seeing your notes. Especially the ones about me, changed how I felt. I don't fully forgive you but....I fell less scared around you now." I nod.

"What notes?" He asks.

I start reciting them from memory, "I will never forget the way her beautiful eyes stares into my cold ones....I will never forget the way she shined under the moonlight. She's making me feel things that I've never felt before. Is this woman an Angel? Was she real? Could it be that I have-"

"Okay stop." Bucky shakes his head.

"I admire how strong Y/N is. I especially like that she cusses in every sentence." I smile.

"Y/N-"

I smile, "I wish I could go back and change everything. I wish I would of died on that train instead of being turned into this monster. Then I wouldn't of hurt the one woman I want to-"

"Y/N. Please don't." He blushes.

"I now see who you are Bucky Barnes." I smile. "I'd like to forgive you....eventually." I walk past him. "I'm getting closer."
