You didn't see your companion's ear twitch slightly at the mention of you practicing with your powers, again. "Erm, I don't think that's a wise choice. Your portals aren't always that reliable, and when it happens, it could take you somewhere absolutely random. And I don't wanna spend my night looking for you." Then she said, "Don't you remember what happened that one time?"
You rolled your eyes and nodded. Not this again. Everybody kept reminding you of something you did back when you were younger and had just discovered your powers. "Yeah, I do. And I know what your gonna say."
The Cra's brown eyes narrowed at you and said, "Then I'll say it again: you gave me and everyone else a heart attack. You went a 100 feet in the air! Your mother was scared to death."
You shrugged. "True, but I was also 9 at the time. I've gotten better at it." You said, looking at your hand.
"But there's still a chance it'll take you somewhere you won't expect." She reasoned.
Welp, you can say good bye to training... for now. "I know Fionda, I know. You worry about me too much." Despite what the 50 year old Cra said, she was a big ol' softie behind that bow and arrow. Like the god of love.
"It's my job to worry. But unlike my Lady, I get paid for it." She spoke in a certain tone.
"Ha, yeah," you said without looking at her. "Do you wonder how-" you got cut off by something rustling in a near by bush.
Tom stopped in his tracks and huffed in worry. He probably senses danger, you thought as the other turkey stopped next to you. "There's something over there, be careful." You warned the Cra.
More movements could be heard. You eyed it wearily as Fionda brought out her bow and pulled the string back. It's end was pointed at whoever was in there, waiting for them to come out. What is it? An animal? A person? No, it can't be. We're too far out.
"Wha!" A man with scruffy clothes tumbled out, with his knife next him.
This was the least you expected. The servants back in Certis had warned you that the open roads were dangerous, this was just embarrassing if anything. You can feel your friend wanting to let go of the string, but before she could, you grabbed her arm to stop her from doing so. She looked at you with a questioned look, but you only shook your head. I want to see how this goes. You may not have told her why, but reluctantly Fionda put her weapon down, slowly. You both watched as the man scrambled to get up, and nearly dropped his knife twice. The sight was sad, but you didn't want to say anything yet. Then he quickly spun around and pointed it at the two of you, holding the dull object with both hands. He's not even holding it right.
"Both of y-you, hand you everything I have." He stuttered.
You tilted your head to the side, confused with what he was doing. "Uh, don't you mean 'hand me everything you have'?" Am I being robbed?
The theives your mother told you about as a child were always seen in your mind as big scary men who wore some sort of mask with visible scars on their skin. This man was more on the scrawny side and looked like he had a bunch of dirt on him... and brusies. Guy looked like he could use one of Pan's foot long sandwiches. He realized what he said was the wrong thing, but it was too late to back out now. "Yeah, that. Hand it all to me."
The blonde woman's sharp eyes narrowed slightly at the sorry excuse for a thief. "What makes you think we're gonna do that willingly?"
You nodded, agreeing with her. You didn't feel threatened, and the turkeys no longer felt nervous. The man had dirt over his face, with raggy clothes. Was his belt just some rope...? The longer you looked at him, the longer you felt bad for him. "Um, are you okay sir? Are you lost or something?"
