In a single moment, Simon's life had turned upside down. Homeless, packless, rejected, and without his beloved family, Simon had lost all he's known to the person he was supposed to call his soulmate, Vince. Ostracized from his own home, Simon must...
It was a silly idea in my head, painting a person's mate so terribly wrong for someone and having them try and rekindle something that was hardly ever there to begin with. Someone forcing them to come together and work out the kinks, and eventually learn from it and want to change. And of course, the ending had always been what I had planned, bittersweet.
I won't sugarcoat it, their relationship was toxic, from the start, even to the end, and I knew that if I were to ever get them to a point where they were fully a healthy couple, this book would have been way too long. I know it seemed sudden, seemed wrong for Simon to give it all up, for Vince to push him away, but I stand by the ending. I left it open for interpretation. Left it where their stories, although physically done in this book, are still ongoing. Both still need time to move on, need time to adjust and accept all that has happened. It takes time, more time than they thought, but that's okay. It's a process, and for Vince, it may take longer. Simon's had years to learn to accept things, while Vince has had less than a year to acknowledge and fully accept the gravity of his past. Realistically, he needs more time to move on from the past before ever fully opening himself up to love and to being the mate Simon needs.
As for Simon's letter:
I thought about including his letter. Very much wanted to share it, but I chose not to. I decided to keep it hidden on the basis of three reasons.
One, I truthfully haven't written it yet. There's a lot to unpack and say in response to Vince's letter within Simon's perspective, and I haven't decided what is necessary to say.
Two, I felt it would be too personal to share at first. Simon's letter would be very direct, very emotional, and poetically, I felt as though only Vince should know what the contents of his letter is. It's hard to explain, but I like the secrecy, privacy, and the overall mystery of it.
And three, I shall explain in the next two sections.
As for what's next:
Vince and Simon, and the rest of the characters within this universe will always have a special place in my heart. This book is very dear and special to me, and I hated that this was the end. I never wanted to leave them, never thought I'd actually finish this story. There are many moments and scenes that I had not included or felt could fit within this story. I know many of you have wondered about Dwaine and Grant, or Bryce and Cedar, or the fate of Xavier.
Truthfully, series, sequels, trilogies never crossed my mind. I had already planned to write about Dwaine and Grant, had attempted to write Bryce and Cedar. And yet when my dear friends mentioned a sequel, I was shocked it never occurred to me. I didn't have to leave my babies. Didn't have to close their story and brush it aside. The ideas of what happens next to Vince and Simon didn't have to just be a silly daydream. All the unsaid things could be brought to light.
So in response, yes. I'm planning a sequel. As well as a prequel. I will have more details on the prequel later on, but it's in the works.
As for Dwaine and Grant, I do wish to continue their book, but it will most definitely be a shorter novella. Same with Bryce and Cedar's. One day, I hope to work on my hiatus books, including my non-werewolf ones, but I'm very invested with Simon and Vince, and will most likely keep the sequel as the top priority. I hope you will understand, and be patient, I am a slow writer.
As for other stories, I do have a few non-werewolf ones in mind I'd like to work on in the meantime, as a destressor and overall break from this story. Those should be posted later this month.
As for the sequel:
Yes, it will focus on Simon and Vince. It will most likely be shorter than In a Heartbeat, and will feature other couples. I won't spoil everything here, but I will share some things that will answer a few of your questions.
Xavier will have a love interest, and has officially adopted Jonah and Lilah.
You'll meet new characters (related to the prequel).
Aspen and Sarah have their child.
Sam will still play a very big role in this book.
Simon's letter will be revealed/expressed.
And lastly, Simon and Vince will get back together. That may come as a shock, maybe annoy you, which is why I left this book on an open ending as well. Those that have rooted for Sam and Simon, that have wanted their happy ending, can rest here and know that they are together. For those that wish to see what happens next, to see them collide once more and be mates, the sequel will be there.
I plan to upload chapters early/mid May. I'd like a bit more time to plan certain things out, as well as possibly starting up a patreon for extra scenes and early access (if I can keep up).
I don't have a blurb yet, but I do have the cover:

Thanks for reading my parting notes and thoughts, I know it's a lot to unpack. Not everyone will read through these, but I truly wished to express everything I had to say here.
Again, thank you all so much for the love and support. I'm truly blessed to have such lovely readers. Love each and every one of you. Whether you choose to end this journey here, or continue on, I appreciate your time and support.
Thank you from the bottom of my angsty writing heart,
