At this point, I don't know who I like better, Arielle or Diana.🤣

Tom rings the doorbell and stands outside of his mother's house.

"Hold on, Tommy," he hears being yelled from the living room. "I gotta get my old arse up."

"I can use the key, Mum." Tom shouts through the door.

The door unlocks and Diana opens it. "No need. I've got it." She pulls her son in and kisses him on each cheek. She puts her hand on his face and moves the hair out of his face. "How's my boy?"

"I'm well."

"And my girls?"

"They're good."

"How about my new darling Bethany?"

"We're all great." Tom chuckles.

"Good, good. Do you want anything? I can make you some tea or coffee. I had early grey this morning and there's still the bag sitting on the counter."

"I'm alright. I can't stay too long. The girls are in school right now."

"Alright, love. Oh! Actually, would you like a biscuit?" Diana opens the oven and points to a glass container. "I have them in there to stay warm but I made biscuits for your sister. As long as you won't tell, I'll give you one. I made them this morning, they're nice and fresh, darling."

"I'm fine, Mum, thank you." Tom says. "Which sister did you make them for?"

"Sarah. She's coming by soon to pick them up."

"Well I wish you'd told me that. I could've come at separate time."

"Thomas, please." Diana says. "Your sister loves you so much. She just wants the best for you, we all do. She doesn't want you to get hurt."

"She has an awfully nice way of showing her concern."

"She's your sister, darling. She just wants to look out for her baby brother."

"We're 15 months apart, Mum, and we're no longer children. I'm not her baby brother anymore."

"Of course you are. Just like you'll be always be my little boy."

"I'm 34 and if things go to plan, I'll be getting married for the second time very soon. I'm not a little boy anymore."

"Nonsense," Diana says and swats the air. "You'll always be a little boy in my eyes. I still see you as the same kid who ran around a restaurant with their bum out. You have children, you understand."

"Well they're small children still, Mum, of course I consider them babies. I'm sure I'll feel differently when they're older."

Diana chuckles and slaps his arm. "No, you won't. You'll look at them when they're in their thirties and see the same little baby who you changed nappies for. You won't grow in my eyes, baby." Diana takes a sip of her tea and smiles. "Actually, my dear, you had the cutest little bum." She starts making pinching motions with her fingers by her teacup. "It was so tiny."

"Mum," Tom says, getting red.

"Oh, hush, I'm your mum. I carried you inside of me for 9 months and I changed your nappies. It's not like I'm saying this in front your fancy work friends."

"Do you have the ring?"

"Oh! Yes! Let me grab it." Diana runs to her purse an pulls out a velvet box. "Here you go, love. Check if you like it."

Tom opens the box and smiles. "Thank you so much."

"Do you like the addition? I hope you like it."
