?Chapter 5: The Alchemist.?

The blonde had already strapped herself into the machine, causing you to chuckle.

"Let's do this!" She said, determined.

Varian reached for one of the levers, "Okay! Rapunzel. Now, um, this may get a little--"

The blonde cut him off, "Exciting?" She asked, bouncing up and down.

You looked up at the sharp tools, "Exciting, is definitely one word for it." Cassandra elbowed you lightly. Varian also sent you a look, before turning back to Rapunzel.

"Um, sure! Yeah! That's a good word for it." He said, rubbing his neck. The brown-haired boy then pulled two levers, a mischievous- almost evil look on his face. Pascal who was sitting on Rapunzel's shoulder quickly hopped off and ran over to you. climbing on your shoulder.

The machine spun around, pulling on Rapunzel's hair. You chuckled a bit, knowing that there was probably an easier way to do this. The machine faced her upright and stopped. A small bell rang.

"And there we are! Done!" Varian said, confusing you, you didn't this it would be this short of a time.

Rapunzel smiled weakly, shaking her hair out of her face, "All right. Not super fun, but it's over." She said waiting to be unstrapped.

"Ha!" Varian laughed nervously, "Oh, sorry. Yeah, I-- I meant done with the first test." He shrugged, his hands outwards, "But, uh, don't worry, only 86 more to go!" He tried to make light of the situation. He pushed a lever upwards, starting the machine again.

A blade whirred over Rapunzel's head, the blade tried to cut Rapunzel's hair and was met with sparks.

The boy's eyes widened with joy, "Amazing!" He shouted over the noise of the rotating blade. The blade flew off of its axel, flying right over Varian who ducked and stuck itself in the wall right next to your face. He spun around, looking at you, "Uhh, you might wanna move over here..." He gestured next to him, "You are definitely in the blast zone." He said before turning around, "I almost killed a princess." He mumbled to himself as you hopped off the table and stood next to him. Pascal hopped off your shoulder and onto the lever controls. He then looked back up at Rapunzel, returning to his energetic self, "You were right, it's absolutely unbreakable!"

The door opened and in walked Eugene, "But I'm betting you're not! Let her go." You chuckled at Eugene's little charade. He wanted to be the hero for once. Everyone looked over at him, deadpan looks on their faces.

"Eugene! Hey!" Rapunzel said, now facing him, the machine still messing with her hair.

Eugene smiled, "Blondie! You're okay!" He said, "You wanna tell me what's goin' on here?"

"I'm fine too. Thanks for asking." You shrugged. You heard a snicker from Cassandra.

Varian's face lit up as he looked at the man and he let go of the controls.

Rapunzel laughed nervously, not wanting to tell him why they were here.

"You know what?" Eugene started, "I don't care. I'm gettin' you out of here." The man pointed to the ground as if trying to say "right now"!

Varian stared at the man, "Hey! You're Flynn Rider!" The brown-haired boy gestured to Eugene excitedly. You raised one eyebrow, wondering where this conversation was going.

"No." Eugene crossed his arms, "You don't know what you're talking about. I've never seen you before in my life. You can't prove anything." You laughed at his defensiveness.

Varian laughed nervously, "I'm your biggest fan!" Varian ran over to a different side of the room and pulled a rope that opened a curtain. Inside appeared to be a shrine. You held back a laugh, looking at all the objects behind the curtain, you had to walk over there to get a closer look. There were a couple of books, a few posters, a boot? Eugene's old satchel a knife and... ugh... a ponytail tied with a green ribbon. Ew. "See!" Varian looked between Eugene and the shrine.
