I'm Not Leaving You (Keith Kogane x Reader)

Before I could dive much deeper into my thoughts, Allura started handing out weapons.
"The bayard is the traditional weapon of the Paladins of Voltron. It takes a distinct shape for each paladin." She said, "Shiro, I'm afraid your bayard was lost with its paladin."
"I guess I'll just have to make do." He said.
"And as for you Y/N, what would you like as your weapon of choice. A dagger or blaster?" She asked.
"Umm, a dagger." I replied.
"A dagger it is," She said walking into the back room, coming out with a black dagger. "This is the Altean Blackblade. One of the oldest daggers forged in Altea. All the carvings were done by hand, and just like the lions, a blackblade chooses its handler. Go on," She said, holding it out to me, "Let's see if this is the one for you."
As I held the dagger and ran my thumb across the carvings, they began to glow.
"Unbelievable!" Said Coran, "The Altean Blackblade has only ever been possessed by an Altean!"
"You are quite something, Y/N," Said Allura, "Congratulations on being the first human to possess an Altean Blackblade."
I smiled at her and wondered why this blade had never chosen a human, or alien, for that matter, to own it.

~~ Back in the Castles Bridge

"You'll need to retrieve the Red Lion from Sendak's ship." Said Allura.
"That's a pretty big ship," Started Keith, "How are we gonna know where the Red Lion is?"
"It's not a matter of we," explained Pidge, "It's a matter of you."
"Pidge is right" Agreed Hunk, "Once we get you in, you'll be able to feel it's presence and track it down."
"Yeah." Grinned Lance, "You know how you felt that crazy energy while we were in the desert?"
"Yeah," Said Keith, "You made fun of me for that."
"And I'm proud of that, but it turns out it's exactly like that mumbo-jumbo."
Allura nodded her head, "Keith, remember, the Red Lion is extremely temperamental. You'll have to earn its respect."
Shiro put his hand on Keith's shoulder, and looked at all of us, "Alright, here's our plan of attack. The Galra Empire knows about the Blue and Yellow Lion, but they don't know we have the Green Lion, too. Hunk, Lance, you guys will act as a decoy by pretending to give yourselves up. While Sendak is distracted, Keith, Pidge, Y/N, and I will sneak into the ship in the Green Lion. Keith and I will find the Red Lion while Pidge and Y/N guard our exit. Hunk, Lance, find some way to take down that ion cannon."

~~ On the Galra Ship

"Pidge, what's your ETA?" Asked Lance.
"We're in." She whispered, and that's when it was time to get moving.

As we snuck around the halls, Shiro abruptly stopped.
"Shiro?" I asked a bit concerned.
"I've been here before," He said, "After I was taken by the Galra cruiser off Kerberos, they brought us here."
"So, that means your other crewmembers, they might be held captive here." Explained Pidge, "We... we gotta rescue them."
"Pidge we don't have time. We have to get the Red Lion and get back to Arus."
"But we can't just leave prisoners here!"
"Look, no one understands that more than me, but, in war, we have to make hard choices. Now let's get moving."
"No!" She yelled, "Commander Holt is my father. He and my brother were the ones on the Kerberos Mission with you."
"Commander Holt is your father?" Asked Shiro.
"Yes. I've been searching everywhere for him and my brother. And I'm not going to give up looking when I'm this close. I won't!"
"Then I'm coming with you," Said Shiro.
"What?" Asked Keith.
"I remember where the prisoners are held. Keith, you go find the Red Lion."
"By myself?"
"No, bring Y/N with you. It's just a minor change of plans. You'll be fine. Just remember, patience yields focus. So-" The doors opened, "Run! Keep my sister safe!"

Keith and I ran as fast as we could until we reached the end of a hallway that split in two different directions.
"Great," He said a little annoyed, "Now, which way?"
Before we could think it over, we heard footsteps approaching and ran right. As we ran, it seemed like we were going in circles. And sure enough we were, because we ended up right back in the place we started.
"Ugh!" He said getting frustrated, "You've got to be kidding me!"
"Keith!" I yelled, "You need to be patient. Close your eyes. Remember what Shiro said. Patience yields focus."
He closed his eyes and concentrated on the Red Lion.
"Gotcha!" He exclaimed, "Y/N, let's go!"
