Somebody to Love

I know the end of the school year doesn't match up exactly with England's school system regarding Spring Break, but it matches up with the story so we're going with American Summer Break!

May 28th

Bethany rolls over in bed an yawns. She puts her arm out to pulls Tom closer to her, but she hits cold sheets. She opens her eyes and sees that his side of the bed is made.

Looking up at the bathroom door, Bethany notices that it's open and no one's inside. Where is he?

Bethany heads a piercing scream coming from Arielle and the splashing of water.

"Oh, bloody hell!" Bethany hears Tom scream. "Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!"

"Is everyone okay?" Bethany yells down the hallway.

"Hold on, hold on, I got it." Tom says, muffled. "You're okay, it's okay." She hears the hallway bathroom door open and sees Tom running downstairs, holding something. The front door opens, then closes.

Bethany gets out of bed and puts on a sweater. She walks into the hallway and sees Tom walking up the stairs with a cup, the entire front of his shirt soaked.

"What in the world happened?" she asks.

"Um..." he sighs. "Well, Arielle needed to take a bath because she didn't take one last night and so I told her to get in and I'd be in there in a moment. I turned the water on for her, walked to the closet to grab her bath stuff, and entered the bathroom to be greeted by a loud scream. There was a huge wolf spider in the bath. She started splashing the water to try and get it out of the bath and then jumped into my arms when it crawled closer to her. She was sopping wet and leaped from the bath so I almost dropped her, that's why I was swearing so much. I should probably apologize to Arielle for that, I shouldn't have used that kind of language in her presence."

Bethany sucks on her lips, trying not to laugh. "Okay, one, that's terrifying and I'm glad that you're both okay, and two..." she lets out a chuckle. "What the hell kind of morning is that? Don't they need to be at school in 20 minutes?"

"Yes. Bella is downstairs eating breakfast. I was going to send Arielle with something because they have morning snack time to eat breakfast if they didn't already. I have to get her ready for the day."

"Do you want me to drive them? Or at least Bella because Arielle starts 20 minutes later and so you'll get more time to get her ready."

"Yes, thank you." Tom sighs. "Now she's gonna be terrified to get in the bath. We should've this last night. She was just really tired and so I was and in theory it doesn't take too long but she hates going out or to bed with her hair wet, it makes her head hurt, so then I gotta dry it and put product in, get her dressed and ready for school, get her backpack and breakfast ready, and then go."

"I know. Let me go brush my teeth, put on some slides, and I'll take her to school."

"Thank you so much. Tell her I'm sorry that I'm not driving her and I love her very much and to have a fantastic day at school."

"I will, baby. I'll be back soon. I think I'm gonna stop for coffee. Do you want anything?"

"Um, I'll take a tea please with a croissant."

"Got it. Now go wash your kid!" Bethany says and jogs down the stairs. "Bells, baby, I'm taking you to school. Finish your breakfast, okay, sweetheart?"

Tom speed walks into the bathroom. Arielle is sitting on the toilet wrapped in a hooded towel. "Is it gone?" she asks, her voice slightly shaking.
