The day of the party came around quicker than expected and I was getting ready when there was a knock on my door. I rushed to go and see that it was Lando with a load of food for the BBQ and some beer.
"Good to see you old friend" I said as I gave him a quick kiss
"I like what you've done with the place" He said as he walked in
"Looks better no?"
"Much better, you don't mind me staying over do you?"
"Why would I care, I was just getting ready so go and put your stuff in my room"
I went back to the bathroom and got ready, I walked out to the garden to see the garden lights were working well and the BBQ was heating up nicely. I had got loads of chairs and tables to fit everyone and I was excited to have all of these lovely people at my house.
Shortly after everyone started arriving, they all bought alcohol and food, I would be stocked up for months with the amount of food and drink there was.
"New home looks good Izzie" Daniel said as he walked towards the front door where I was waiting
"Thanks, I do try" I said as he hugged me extra tight
"It's been too long, we miss you at the track"
"Yeh well we'll get there, no more work talk though, it's a break for you"
"I hear nicki minaj on so I am going out to the garden" Daniel said as he shoved what he bought in to my hands.
The night went really well everyone got a long and we were singing and dancing till 3am. By this point some of the people had left, I had Charles and Charlotte staying in the spare bedroom and Daniel would crash on my sofa.
Me and Lando were sitting under a blanket in front of the fire just enjoying our time together, we hadn't seen much of each other recently and it was nice to spend time with him.
"Wanna go to the beach?" I asked
"Why?"
"To watch the sunrise obviously"
"Okay" Lando said as he got up and put a hand out to help me up
I got a bag and filled it with blankets and a flask of tea and some biscuits as well. We walked down to the beach about 45 minutes before the sun was due to rise.
We set up our blankets on the beach and we just sat there talking about how our lives have changed so much in the last year.
"Why are you so defensive?" Lando asked
"What do you mean?"
"Why does no one know anything about you?"
"No one really cared when I was younger so I assumed everyone was like that"
"Not everyone is like your dad"
"How do you know about that?"
"I was there when you won your first championship, I raced against you and I only realised it was you a few months ago"
"Oh, okay"
"When you made that speech and they were asking about your parents you said they were on a business trip"
"Convincing lie, bet no one saw straight through it"
"You completely disappeared, what happened?"
"I tried to kill myself a few times, then I moved to Monaco, the rest is history"
"I was always jealous of you and your family though, you looked like you always got a long and your parents were there for you no matter what" I added
"Well they remember you and that's why I'm asking you now because it clicked in their heads as well"
"Oh, well the sun is rising so be quiet"
We watched the sun rise and the sky was golden and pink, it was beautiful. I managed to shove my camera in the bag and I got it out and Lando knew that I wanted to take a photo.
The photo was of us in the golden hour, he was kissing my cheek and I was laughing, I think it was the most genuine photo of both of us. It reminded me of the photo in Monaco when we first met and how much we had both changed in that period of time.
After a while we walked to the shop to get some breakfast for everyone and when we got back we put it on the kitchen counter and we went up to bed as quietly as we could without waking anyone up. It was going well until Lando headbutted the ladder and yelled, I think everyone slept through it though because they were that drunk.
