Okay the part in the beginning where the narration is describing how Tom sleeps makes me sad because I just think of Only One Call Away where he had to sleep on his back because it was too hard to breathe on his side🥺

That stupid book still makes me sad!!!!!!🤣

One Month Later

Bethany lays in bed with her eyes closed, clutching the pregnancy pillow Tom got her so she could sleep easier. She was always a stomach sleeper... so this pregnancy made it hard to sleep. It was all worth it though. In three months, she'd have a baby boy with her husband.

Hopefully the baby's name was Nicholas... but she'd love Alistair just the same.

She opens her eyes when she hears the door creak open. She looks at the black silhouette next to her that was her husband. If it wasn't Tom... it was a monster.

Clothed feet shuffle against the wood floor and a weight is added to the bed. Not a heavy weight, but there was clearly another person.

Bethany smiled at the silhouette of a small child holding a stuffed Bunnie sitting on her husband. His eyes were still closed, he was exhausted from the day before, Bethany the child sat on his stomach.

Tom never slept on his back but he did move in his sleep. If he woke up and he was on his back, he'd turn over to the side right away... it was just more comfortable.

"Daddy?" a voice whispers. "Daddy, you gotta get up."

Tom softly grumbles in his sleep and covers his face with his arm, completely unaware of his daughter's presence.

"Daddy?" Arielle sings.

Bethany rolls over to meet her eyes. "What do you need, sweetie?"

"I wanna cuddle with Daddy, I'm scared."

"You're scared?" What's wrong, baby girl?" Beth asks and sits up.

"There's a monster in my closet. It was creaked open. Bella is still asleep and I didn't want to scare her by telling her so I figured Daddy could do a rescue mission."

"Do you need me to check?"

"No, it's okay. There's been monsters before and Daddy's really good at getting them to go away. Also Daddy said not to disturb you because of the baby you can get annoyed really easily and he doesn't want to annoy you."

Bethany softly chuckles and looks over at her sleeping husband. "It's okay, sweetheart. Do you want me to look for you or just wake up Daddy?"

"Just wake up Daddy, please." Arielle says and hugs her stuffed animal.

"Tom," Bethany whispers and gently shakes him. "Wake up, baby."

"Yes?" Tom groans into his arm.

"Daddy's there's a monster in my room and it's trying to kill us."

Tom removes his arm from his face and looks at his daughter, now wide awake. "What?"

"The closet door was creaked open and I know what it is. Help."

Tom yawns and taps on Arielle's arm so she knows to get off of him. He reaches for his glasses on the nightstand and puts then on his face, making his vision so much clearer. He then steps out of bed and puts a cardigan on over his plain white v-neck t-shirt. Tom slides his bare feet into black slippers and takes Arielle's hand as he walks out of his and Bethany's bedroom.

"Are you grabbing the monster spray?" Arielle asks her father.

"Yes, dear. It's in this here cabinet."
