To make a watermark background you need to follow these two simple steps.

1 Decide a solid color that you will use, it can be the major color of your theme or any dull solid color that will be pleasant to readers eyes.

TIP : IF YOU ARE A NEW-BIE BLACK IS THE BEST OPTION, AND EVEN IF YOU AREN'T A NEW-BIE BLACK COLOR BACKGROUND WILL DO THE WORK.

In case you want to use a color different from black, then make sure to use cool colors.

Here are a few colors that can be used.

How to use a color palette?

Take the screen shot of the palette I shared.

To use it you have to open this screenshot on Instagram story.

Click on the pen tool.

Select the pick color tool from the bottom left corner and pick the color you want.

Once done press the screen for a few seconds and you will have the colored background.

Save it or take a screenshot of it.

DON'T ’S

1 Don't choose too bright color like red, or dark green that will rebuff the audience and they may NOT read your content

2 Don't add too many stars, or overlay to your background

3 Don't use the member picture as the background of inner slides.

DO’S

From my experience as a reader, I always liked it when the author had a simple background. So that I can focus on what's written.

WATERMARKS

Watermark is important so that your readers will remember your username. That's it.

You have to write your username at the top, bottom or sides of your inner pages. Because that's just for your readers to remember you.

NOTE : Avoid using “DO NOT DUPLICATE OR REPOST OR RECREATE OR THIS AND THAT AND THAT…” If you aren't mentioning “not duplicating your work” doesn't mean you are allowing others to copy it and mentioning won't stop cheaters from cheating.

And ofcourse  watermarks should not be hindering your text.

NOW TEXT AND SCREEN SHOTS

Your text should be clearly visible and easily readable. Just follow these steps.

1 Don't use a stylish font. It makes reading too difficult.

2 Use, Arial font. (Available in Google docs)

TIP : ALWAYS USE LEFT ALIGNMENT, AND FOR BETTER PRESENTATION JUSTIFY THE TEXT.

3 Do not reduce the opacity of the screenshots. It should be opaque and clear.

4 The simpler the better.

Use this sample as a reference while making yours.

TIP :Since we know that Instagram allows only 10 pictures to be uploaded as one post

TIP :
Since we know that Instagram allows only 10 pictures to be uploaded as one post. We have to be careful while taking screenshots. We post one cover, that means we have only nine slots to squeeze in the story.

The only thing that can be done is wise placement of screenshots. And for that you can simply count the number of paragraphs in your story, divide it into nine. Now you can adjust all your ss in your background picture.

WORD COUNT : We can not adjust many ss into one slide, that will be difficult to read. To be on safer side try to finish your story in 1500-1800 words. In such cases the content is easily readable.

How to add screenshots to the background?

Open background image on PicsArt.
Click on the “add image” icon.
Select the screen shot, crop it as per requirement.
Then place it in the centre of the image.

ANOTHER TIP ABOUT FORMATTING CONTENT.

I have seen many writers bold their dialogue tags. I never understood the reason, but IT SHOULDN'T BE DONE.

Reason : It's natural for the human eyes to recognise the bold elements first. Readers will read the bold tags and will ignore the narration. Bold text should be used only to emphasise the major elements of the story.

That's it.
