"You okay?" She whispered. Isaac nodded and grabbed her hand. With the other, he held the back of his neck.

"I barely saw them. I mean, glimpses," Peter said as he faced away from them.

"But you did see them?" Marley asked.

"And worse."

"Deucalion," Derek said. Marley didn't have a clue who the duke of aliens was but she wasn't bothered about that. She only cared for Isaac. She knew that Erica and Boyd were like siblings to isaac, and that they were the only family he had besides her.

"He was talking to them. Something about time running out," Peter said.

"What does that mean?" Isaac asked, looking up.

"He's gonna kill them," Marley said, her voice cracking slightly. No one deserved death, maybe a few people, but not Erica and Boyd.

"No, no, no, no, no, he didn't say that," Peter rushed. "He did make them a promise that by the full moon that they'd both be dead."

"The next full moon?"

"Tomorrow night."

...

"I don't see anything," Derek said as Lydia and Allison held their arms together.

Marley had made it to school just in time for first period. She got through two before meeting up in a classroom with Lydia, Allison, Scott and Stiles. Derek accompanied them too. Marley hadn't had much time to talk to Lydia since she was with Allison and well, Marley wasn't keen on talking to her. Of course she would love to catch up with the strawberry blonde, but she was a little occupied. Plus, Marley enjoyed the boys company anyway.

"Look again," Scott said. Marley leant on the table that Stiles bent over on, watching tiresomely.

"How is a bruise gonna tell me where Boyd and Erica are?" Derek asked.

"It's the same on both sides. Exactly," Scott said, pointing to the girls arms. Marley had to admit, they looked identical, but she didn't see how a few red marks were gonna help.

"It's nothing," Derek persisted.

"Pareidolia. Seeing patterns that aren't there. It's a subset of apophenia," Lydia said smartly. Marley didn't know what any of those words meant; she had been off school for four months. That was her excuse.

"They're trying to help," Scott said.

"These two. This one, who used me to resurrect my psychotic Uncle. Thank you," Derek said as he pointed to Lydia. "And this one, who shot about 30 arrows into me and my pack."

"And me," Marley said, raising her hand to the side of her face. Allison looked at her glumly. She wanted to say that it was all in the moment, and that she didn't mean to. But she did. Allison was mad about everything, so she needed to let her anger out. Marley just happened to be in the way.

"Okay, all right, now, come on. No one died, all right? Look, there may have been a little maiming, okay, a little mangling, but no death. That's what I call an important distinction," Stiles said, making Marley close her eyes and shake her head.

"My mother died," Allison said, sending daggers to Derek.

"Your families little honour code killed your mother. Not me," Derek said. Marley agreed once again. If Allison was happy to date a werewolf, what was so bad about having a werewolf mother?

"That girl was looking for Scott," Allison said. "I'm here to help Scott, not you."

"You wanna help? Then find something real," Derek said before walking off, Scott following.
