"We're fine Quinn was just exhausted."
"You guys all seemed exhausted this morning."
Avery shrugged at Leonardo's questioning tone, "And now we're about to go to sleep."
"I brought your suitcase," Remo rolled it to Avery who took it from him with a nod.
"We'll need to be at the station for the statements at nine tomorrow so you'll need to be up by eight to get ready." Leonardo activated his businessman mode
"Got it," Avery nodded and began to close the door.
"You know it's okay not to be okay right? You all went through something terrible and now you need to tell people about it. It's okay for you to not be okay with all this." Remo was very confusing. One minute he is telling us he won't pry the next minute telling us to sell our souls and tell them how we were feeling. Yeah, not happening. Ever.
Avery hummed, "Okay." and with that, she shut the door and I laughed slightly at her shutting the door in their faces.
"Night guys." Remo's light voice floated into the room and Avery scowled and that made me smile even more.
We both went back to our previous positions on the bed and Avery sighed, "You think we can get away here? It might be easier."
I shrugged, "It can't hurt to try but when? They are always around us."
She was quiet and then asked, "Am I crazy at wanting to trust them and wanting to stay for a little longer?"
"Honestly I think all three of us are crazy." I avoided giving her an answer.
"That doesn't answer my question Sawy."
I sighed, "I don't know, Aves. I want to trust them too but how can we?"
She sighed and her soft voice she rarely used filled the room, "I want Papi back. Remember our sixth birthday he took us to his work and showed us an old cold case for your present then the museum for Quinn and then that night we did an art class for me."
I smiled at the memory of that day. No matter what was happening Papi always made sure we each felt special on our birthday. "Yeah, I remember."
"Do you think Papi wants us to run?"
"I don't know Ave, you know how he always wanted us to trust others but we both know where trust leads."
She nodded. "They've only been nice to us so far." She sighed and deflated a bit, "I wish I knew how long we had."
I watched her over Quinn knowing right now she was letting her weakness and her doubts take over. "I know. Quinn and I trust you know what is best and to make the right decision. If you think we're safe to stay then we stay. If you want to run we're behind you no questions asked."
"Love you Sawy bean."
"Love you too Avey."
We were both quiet but neither of us slept. We drifted off and on but mostly laid there with our thoughts hoping the next day would hold on for longer.
Avery's POV
I was going over every possible thing that might happen tomorrow when Quinn began to tense up and whimper. I glanced at Sawyer who was also awake and we both began to wake her up and pull her out of the nightmare. Unlike Sawyer and I, she never screamed out in her nightmares so I wasn't worried about anyone waking up but I was worried about stopping the memory before it got too bad.
She opened her eyes suddenly and latched onto me and I hugged her back tightly calming her down. I didn't bother asking her if she was okay. Once she calmed down I explained my plan for the station and she nodded along without complaint or question trusting me. Her and Sawyer trusting me gave me strength but it also terrified me knowing my choice could put them in danger.
