40|| "Techno?"

"You IDIOT! Techno was being poisoned in a cell, you dumb fuck!"

The growl that left its lips made them freeze into place as it bounced off the space. A heavy pressure suddenly came upon them as they waited for the wolf's words to come through the silence that enveloped them. Their breath was laboured from the constant movements earlier to wake the beast up, the chilly wind seems to feel a little bearable now but still cold enough to create puffs of smoke whenever they exhale.

The wolf is waking up from its slumber.

They wanted to stay silent after the warning but they sorely need to wake the other up, at least more than they already are. So after a silent prayer, they opened their mouths.

"Don't even think about continuing you fool, let me rest." The wolf cuts in before they could even utter a word out.

"And with every passing second of you acting like sleeping beauty, everyone gets hurt!" Another rumble echoed in the area but they didn't falter.

"You don't know what happened because you like to play around!"

"You also don't know shut the fuck up!"

"Oh I know, human."

"How would you? Your eyes are closed!" Chat taunts.

"I know more than you even with them shut." Chat dared to laugh, mocking the wolf with how loud it sounded. Irritating the beast more than the usual, threatening to cross the line of no return.

It's not like they could die in the hub, pain is temporary, they can tolerate it and help Techno out.

"Oh really?" Chat cackled, "Prove it coward."

"Just let me sleep."

"Coward." When there was no response, they taunted again.

"Pussy." They jolt up when the wolf snarled at them, it made them fall back to the ground at how sudden it was, mind muddled with panicked thoughts but they immediately caught theirself before they slipped.

"Do you even have any idea what happened to Techno before I fell asleep?"

"He was with Y/N."

"He's not, you muffin shit! He was being forced to drink a concoction, you buffoon!"

"He is with mate–"

"He's with Quackity in a jail cell!"

The silence that followed made Chat's heart rise up to their throat, their breathing slightly faster than usual as they waited for the beast to respond, to pounce. But it never came, instead, it spoke but now with a calmer tone.

"Tell me, where are you right now?"

"Can't tell, it's dark. The farmhouse is gone. Even the hillside shrine you made disappeared."

"Are we really in a dark place?"

"Yes so get your furry ass up before I kick it." Chat deadpanned. Of course, they're not going to hit a magical wolf that's twice as big as them if it stands on its hind legs. Instant K.O. Yet, even with that obvious fact, a small part of themself wanted to challenge it to a deathmatch.

Chat watched nervously as the wolf started to stir in its place on the floor, they didn't know what to do if they should stand and watch or go annoy the other more so it could go on quickly and give them information about what's happening outside.
