"Yes, we tried to find three that weren't known much in the public eye and didn't work within homes and important jobs," the assistant said. Connor looked at Brooke before he turned and approached them all, they still didn't look at him.
"State your model and function," he demanded as he started at the one to his left, he stood taller before speaking.
"Model VB800, I am a sales consultant," he robotically replied. Connor nodded before looking to the middle one, who was the only female out of them all, she was also the smallest out of them all.
"Model WD500, I am a delivery worker," she said with a quiet, feminine voice. Connor then turned to the last android, the tallest out of them all.
"Model WG700, I am a janitor," he said with cold confidence. Connor looked at them each once more before standing closer and giving them their first and last command.
"You will all be standing in front of the general public, what will happen, will happen and not one of you will act out because of it, am I understood?" Brooke flinched at Connor's harsh and brash words, all three androids nodded in understanding.
Connor turned back around and stood back next to Brooke, she eyed him with furrowed brows. "Did you have to be that harsh?" she said with an annoyed tone. Clarke cleared his throat and moved away, letting them both talk alone.
"Yes, it is the only way to make them understand the importance of what is about to happen," he said with a small shrug. Brooke shook her head, moving away from him slightly.
"I just don't like how you speak to them, Connor. They are people too," she scolded. Connor's lip trembled at her tone, not knowing what to say to fix the situation.
"I am sorry, Brooke. I did not do it to upset you, I would have done it an easier way if I could," he said with a sad pout. Brooke sighed heavily, she moved back to him and laced her arms around his waist.
"I know, I'm sorry. I just hate seeing them so... cold and lost," she said as she stared at them, Connor did the same, watching each android stand like statues, only moving their eyelids to blink.
"They will be free people by the end of the day," he said reassuringly. Brooke smiled at him, letting him drop his head for their lips to meet. She loved Connor's lips, they moulded with her own perfectly and he had his own sweet taste that she could never figure out what it was.
Their kiss was cut short when Lara cleared her throat, she stood next to Connor as she fiddled with her hands awkwardly. Connor pulled away and smiled at Lara, before leaving both women to talk to Clarke in private.
"Could I ask you a question, Brooke?" Lara asked as she moved closer to her, leaning in so their words didn't travel far.
"Sure," she replied, looking at the other woman with curious eyes. Lara seemed nervous to ask the question but took a deep breath before asking.
"What drew you to Connor? I've always wondered what changed your mind from dating your own species to one that lives twice as long as we do." Brooke looked at Connor before answering, she wanted to give a good answer to the question. Connor stood in the far corner with Clarke, both men deep in conversation.
"I guess it was his personality, everyone before me knew he liked me. But our relationship had a somewhat troubled start, many loved the fact we were together but others did not, it caused problems with our place of work and with some fellow work colleagues." Brooke looked at Lara with a small smile, "but he just treats me like I am a queen, I couldn't ask to be with someone better."
"I can see you love him," Lara said with a smile, but the tight lip response from Brooke made her rethink her words. "You don't love him?" she asked slowly.
