"That you love me like a sister so you'll never fire me."

"Try again." He states whacking you over the head. You wince glaring at him.

"I see you woke up and chose violence Cliff." you raised your hands, striking a pose you hoped looked somewhat similar to what you'd seen in all those martial arts movies.

"Get to work before I decide I have enough employees.

"Yes sir!!"

You're busy at work the second you step inside. Dropping your bag behind the counter, you do your usual check, greeting some of the other workers. Working on cars, it's sort of your safe space. You don't have to worry about grades or making a mistake. Because this particular area is your specialty. For you it's as easy as breathing. Every part has a purpose, and they come together to do one job. Kind of like the human body. Another part of you knows exactly why you love it so much. Most of your best memories are centered around repairing cars. Although now..you no longer have the partner who made doing this worth it.

A sharp ringing at the back of your head makes you close your eyes.

"Not again.."

Whenever you get that feeling, something bad is usually about to happen.

"(Y/N)!!" you jump at the urgency that Cliff screams. He tackles you to the ground, and you don't have a chance to react. Your body hits the ground harshly right at the second an explosion goes off. The earth shakes, and a few of the items on his shelf fall down at the quake. You can hear screaming now, not just from inside the shop, but also on the outside.

Cliff inches up slowly to check and see if you're alright. You peek up, and he appears unharmed as well. The both of you rise slowly, and at this point, most of his employees have already darted out to seek shelter. Whatever had gone off had obviously hit close to the store, so staying here isn't the bet option.

"We need to move. " you instruct. Cliff is looking around to make sure no one is hurt. There's about five of you still in there. The other three individuals look shaken, but no injuries thankfully.

"Let's move." He heads for the door and you're all following him. He checks the area before he opens the door. Some cars have crashed into poles, causing a pile up on the street. People are screaming and scrambling around crazily. Cliff scopes for a safe spot, he marks another building ahead that appears good enough for shelter. After ushering the others, he turns to you.

"(Y/N)! What are you doing, let's go!" Your eyes have transfixed on a car that's on fire. There's another one flipped over on top of it. You could be imagining it but you hear cries. Not an adult's, but a young child. Begging for help. You look back at him conflicted.

Recognition of what you're about to do dawns on him and he shakes his head.

"D-Don't-" you take off in a sprint. You can't just stay there and do nothing. The last thing you wanted was for Cliff of all people to find out about you, but you have to risk it. A life is on the line. The minute you get to the car, you reach out, grabbing the edge of the bumper. With a yell you pull, moving off the other vehicle. Cliff just stands there in astonishment.

Once the bottom car is free, you rip the door right off its hinges. You can see who's inside easily. There's a young boy in the backseat, and who you assume to be his mother in the front, unconscious. The prominent bruise on her forehead makes you weary. Your eyes move back to the kid. "Can you move?" he nods hesitantly.

"Okay, listen to me carefully okay, I need you to unbuckle the seat belt and climb to me.

"I-Is mommy gonna be okay?" you close your eyes for a second.

"Y-Yes she'll be fine just please."

He reaches for the buckle, clicking it off and inching closer. You try to keep calm but the front of her car is still blazing. It's only a matter of time before this all goes wrong. "Come on kid, almost there." He grabs your outstretched hand, and you pull him out quickly, placing him on his feet at the side.

"Now go, head to that building over there. I'll help your mom." he shifts, reluctant to leave.

"Listen kid you have to-"

"I've got him." Your eyes lift.

"C-Cliff.." He hoists the kid into his arms. "Save her." you nod, and Cliff takes off to safety. Now you can focus on the woman. She's still not moving. Leaning over you all but rip the seat belt off. Inching inside, you carefully start to move her body. You've got a good hold now, so you move back. Heaving her over your shoulder, you move briskly away from the inflamed car. You barely take five steps away before it explodes.

The heat and whiplash send you flying back, and in one last attempt to avoid any kind of harm to her, you cover as much of her body as you can. You expect to go hurtling into the concrete, instead your body sort of slides on something solid, and cold. You're still holding her body with all you've got, and it takes you a couple moments to open your eyes and figure out just where you are. You do cautiously, and the white haired woman standing over you is not what you expect.

"Good catch." she compliments. She's smirking, what appears to be frost seeping from her open palms. Looking down, there's ice directly under your body. You can see what's left of the burnt vehicle. You take another breath, right before you drop your head on the ground in relief.

"I need to find a new hobby."
