Chapter 22

"What the hell are you talking about?" I take a step back.

"I originally planned to wait until the tournament to launch an attack but then I thought playing by my  own rules would be better. So I decided to create a little chaos in order to lure you out here with me."

"W-Why?"

"To give you this." He holds out a necklace.

"This belonged to your mother."

"How did you get it?" My eyes start to water.

"It was left on the battlefield after I achieved my ninth victory. Thought you'd want it back as a reminder."

"O-Of what?"

"A remind of what will happen if your little team tries to get in the way of my tenth victory...You'll end up dead just like your mother." I let out a loud growl.

"Don't your ever say her name again!"

"Seems like I struck a nerve."

"I'm going to-

"Aurora!" I turn around to see the gang rushing towards me.

"You okay baby?" Jaxon pulls me into a tight hug.

"Y-Yeah."

Hunter squares up to Harou who looks unfazed.

"I'd step down if I were you boy, or else I'll rip out your throat." His eyes turn black.

"Silence!" Koda steps in front of me.

"Well long time no see Warrior Koda. Last we met you were just a naive boy."

"The tournament isn't suppose to begin until the training period is over." He ignores his comment.

"You're correct fire god. But the way I see it you had plenty of time to get your shit together. Although I'm just so eager to kill."

"You will leave this place at once rogue, and take your people wth you." Harou looks around Koda and to the group.

"These are you champions?" He chuckles.

Out of the corner of my eye I see Kiara put her head down almost in shame and embarrassment. Seconds later two of Harou's warriors appear next to him, a woman wielding a sword on her back and a man with clenched fists.

"Kill them."

The warriors start to charge at us but before they could take another step Koda created some type of barrier in front of us. The wall was light blue and looked like lighting, it surrounded the whole house so no one could get in or out.

Harou's eyes widen and so did his people at the sudden display.

"You think these tricks will protect you forever?" He glares at us.

"Only a matter of time." And with that he turns around and exits through the hold blown in the wall, his warriors following.

Koda let's out a sigh of relief.

"Is everyone okay?"

We all nod.

"Good, we don't have much time which means that training has to continue."

"Are you fucking kidding me?" Hunter asks.

"We just got our fucking ass handed to us and you want to get back to training? Our best warriors are injured and in no condition to fight."

"That is what the infirmary is for." Koda tells him.

"As of right now Aurora needs to be ready for the tournament that will leave much worse injuries then this."

"Okay." Kiara says.

The others head inside while I couldn't help but think of what Harou said earlier.

"Hey," Jaxon places a hand on my shoulder,"What is it?"

I shake my head and divert my eyes to the blue wall.

"Harou said something to me before you all arrived that was strange."

"Strange how?"

"Like he saw a greater power in me that Koda knows about but hasn't told me."

"Look, whatever that bastard told you is all lies. He just wanted to mess with your head and throw you off track, I'm sure that Koda isn't hiding anything from you."

I shake my head.

"I knew you wouldn't understand." I walk away from him.

Something wasn't adding up and whatever it may be seemed to be dangerous but I swear to God I was going to figure it out, with or without Jaxon's help.
