My Brothers Secret

Ryder's POV

I still had about 3 hours before I had to go pick up Sean and Kasey from school, so that I could start training Kasey, so I decided to go for a run in the rain. I stepped onto the front porch of our family home, pulling my shirt off and dropping it to the floor. I then stepped off the porch before letting my eyes glow their alpha red. I decided to go full wolf so my bones began to reposition themselves so that I was on all fours and my jet black wolf fur sprouted from my skin. Once I was in full wolf form, I began running at inhuman speeds. I dodged trees and jumped over fallen logs, bushes, and boulders. I sniffed the air, catching the scent of rain and pine, but another scent filled my nostrils that alarmed me.

Her.

I came to a skidding halt and sniffed the air again, inhaling any scent that radiated off of her. My eyes began glowing again when I could smell her fear! I growled, baring my teeth and began sprinting, following her strong scent.

As I got closer I could tell she was near Kasey's bike and most likely found it which was going to be a problem. With my incredible eyesight, I spotted a mountain lion in the tree beside the two girls, ready to attack them at any moment. Over my dead body! I growled and picked up my speed. I was only yards away when the mountain lion surged for my mate and Kasey's. In one quick movement I hurdled for the big cat, crashing into it's side with extreme force. Before he could fight back, I clamped down hard on his neck with my powerful teeth, instantly breaking it. I dropped the lifeless body of the mountain lion and forced my eyes back to their normal color, before walking over to the frightened girls. I calmly laid at my mates feet and waited for them to relax.

Keira was the first to look at me. Her shaky body seemed to relax as she stared at me. Luckily I was in full wolf form, because if I was in my human form, I would feel the urge to shift. Kasey's mate, Jade finally looked up and she began to panic. Keira grabbed Jade's leg to stop her.

"He won't hurt us!" My mate whispered, though it was clear as day for my ears.

"Are you insane?" Jade asked. She tried to grab Keira's arm and pull her away, but Keira shook her off, which had me smiling on the inside.

"He saved us!" Keira said and I could hear my heart beat rising.

"He? What, are you going to name him and take him home?" Jade asked, sarcastically. I growled, low enough so neither of them heard me. Keira reluctantly took her eyes off of me to glare at Jade.

"If he was going to kill us, he would have done it by now!" Keira said, then turned to look at me again.

"Keira, that's an apex predator! They kill just about anything with a beating heart!" Jade growled. Not anything! Just the ones that try and hurt my mate! I growled to myself. Keira rolled her eyes, so I gave her a wolfy grin, which made her smile, god that smile. I had to fight my eyes from glowing. She wasn't ready for this world yet.

"They're predators, but they don't have to be killers!" Keira said. I laid my head on my paws and continued to stare at my beautiful mate, taking in every single feature of her perfect face.

"Can we please just go before it gets dark? I'm freezing!" Jade whined. I whimpered quietly, not wanting my mate to leave, especially for how close I am to her.

"Yeah! I wanna try something first." Keira said.

"Keira, don't do something stupid!" Jade said, but Keira ignored her. Instead she went from sitting to a crouching position, wincing along the way. I whimpered, a lot louder this time. Worried, I lifted my head, prepared to help her. She looked at me and I could see the pain in her eyes.

"It's okay!" She reassured, but I knew she was lying. She tried to inch her way closer to me, but couldn't. She dropped her head in frustration.

I couldn't take it anymore so I stood up and nuzzled into her neck, feeling the spark of a mates touch. She slowly used her hand to rub my head. I could tell she too felt the spark, because her heart started racing. I pulled my head away and licked her cheek, which made her laugh. Oh her laugh is incredible! I could listen to her laugh for forever! She then kissed my head before standing and turning to Jade, who sat in complete and utter shock. I sat wagging my tail in excitement, from my mate kissing my head. Keira pulled Jade to her feet before turning to me and rubbing my head once more, causing more sparks.

"Thank you for saving us!" She smiled. Jade then helped my injured mate to her dirt bike. When they rode away, I followed to make sure they got home safely before I went back to my own home, so I could go pick up my betas!
