Chapter 23/24 -- The Night Before

Start from the beginning

"So you're saying it's a bad plan?"

"No."

"But you're insulting it-"

"It's completely moronic," he stated flatly. I glared daggers at him in response.

"Well then you come up with something better!" I retorted angrily. He only looked away and then stood up, dusting the back of his black coat. "Or just leave, you're really good at leaving when people need you most-"

"Please be silent," Gaster hissed. "It's near morning and I must go. Your plan is flawed in many ways and your lack of knowledge on the possibilities of everything that could go wrong is very disturbing, to say the least. But if you have so much confidence in yours and Papyrus's abilities, then I see no reason it isn't possible the plan might work. Just be careful, and don't underestimate the enemy. That is the worst thing you can do."

I stood up and faced him, nodding slowly, and feeling a tad embarrassed for bursting when I didn't let him finish.

The stars above became dull and went out, the surrounding area melting and swirling like it always did at the end of our meetings. Before Gaster disappeared though, he gave me a warm smile and some wise words.

"I have a word of advice for you Miss Y/n. Keep your anger under control. Anger can make you stupid. Stupid can get you killed. Use your head, not just your fists."

Tapping his head at the end, Gaster left from view, and everything turned black once more.

The next day, everything was normal. Except for the fact Papyrus woke up early.

"SANS!" Papyrus called up the stairs. Within seconds Sans sprinted down the hallway, a pen in hand wielding it like a knife.

"Papyrus, what's wrong?! What's going on?" he asked quickly.

"Nothin's wrong, I just wanted to tell you something," Papyrus replied coolly. Sans cocked his head to the side and put the pen down.

"What did you want to tell me...?"

"I wanted to tell you to pack your bag for a sleepover," Papyrus said with a grin. Sans's face lit up in excitement. "Alphys wants to have you over, and I wanted to give Y/n a special night, so it all works out. She's expecting you to come at your usual training time today."

Sans practically flew down the stairs to give his brother a hug. "Thank you Papyrus! I really appreciate you letting me go," Sans said, his voice muffled by his brother's hoodie. Papyrus patted his head and released himself from Sans's grip.

"Sure no problem bro, just be safe on your way there," Papyrus said, turning to leave for the kitchen. Before he could take a step though, Sans grabbed his forearm, his grip loose.

"You didn't hug back..." Sans stated slowly, his voice concerned. "Is something wrong? You seem to be... to be brushing this off. Which, i-in my opinion is really weird, especially after what happened to me recently. Are you feeling ok?"

"Nothing's wrong Sans, why don't you go pack up for the night. I have stuff I need to do-" Sans's grip tightened on Papyrus's arm, taking a step to face his brother square on now.

"Are you sending me away to keep me safe? Are you and Y/n going to find that person who keeps hurting her and... and me...?" Papyrus stared at his brother. He didn't know what to say, he thought they had hidden all of this from Sans the whole time. He tried to say something but was cut off.
