Chapter 3: Now You See Me, Now You Don't

Start from the beginning

Now, back to making breakfast... with an audience. Maybe you should pretend you're on some cooking show and not being stalked at a close proximity. Illuso leans against the counter next to you, watching you work. Illuso mutters to himself, "They're making (breakfast item)?" He scoffs.

'Okay, fuck him.' You bet he couldn't even cook to save his life. 'He probably fell into a deep fryer or something. That would explain a few things,' you internally chuckle as you finish up. Making your way to the tiny table in your kitchen, you begin to eat. Illuso lazily plops down in the other chair. You focus on wolfing your food down to distract yourself and so you can get up quicker. 'Why can't he just screw off? I'm just eating... I miss when he seemed lazy and disinterested.' Your mood drops as you poorly enjoy the rest of your meal.

Making your way into the living room after washing the dishes, you sit down on your couch and turn on the tv, hoping to fill the oppressive silence and focus your attention on something more pleasant. You were able to enjoy it for a few seconds before Illuso blocked your view, choosing to sit down right on the living room table, instead of sitting on the couch or a chair like a normal person. He was interested in what you had on, but unfortunately had to ruin it for you. As slightly transparent as he was, it's hard to block out the fact you're trying to watch something through a once-living person. After a minute or two of staring at the back of his head, you get up to use the bathroom.

Stepping back into the living room to see him still watching your tv, you decide to go read a book instead. 'Hopefully that keeps him busy for a while,' you think as you slip into your room. Grabbing one of the books you hadn't finished yet, you sit down at your desk in the corner and begin to immerse yourself in the pages. Perhaps a bit too immersed, reading page after page before you catch movement out of your peripheral. 'Fuck, here he is again,' you internally groan as you flip to the next page. It seems like he gets bored rather quickly.

'How am I supposed to concentrate if he's standing over my shoulder like this?' You weren't having fun reading anymore, but you were getting tired of your day off revolving around this ponytailed prick. You weren't going to stop what you wanted to do because of him this time. So you keep reading, with the red-eyed man reading over your shoulder.

After a while, you start to wander to the kitchen for a snack, deciding to keep your eyes down so you don't accidentally make eye contact as you get up from your chair, leaving your book on your desk. You weren't bothered in the kitchen this time, turning off the tv on your way back since there wasn't a reason to keep it on anymore. Coming back to your room with your snack in hand, you find Illuso standing in the same spot, reading the book on the page you had left it on. 'I wonder how long it's been since he's read anything,' you wonder, sitting back down to continue reading with this creepy bastard standing behind your chair and peaking over your shoulder once again. At least he was reading the book and not up in your face staring at you.

You weren't able to focus back in on the book as much as you would have liked and your legs were starting to get restless. With a few chapters out of the way, you decided to clean up the remains of your snack, making sure to leave the book open again so you could get another moment away from him.

Throwing away your trash in the kitchen, you make your way back to your room, preparing to brave the crimson-eyed man again to read more of your book. Only...

He wasn't there.

'Shit,' you curse. There's no telling where he is now. You don't trust that he's actually gone this time either. 'How can he just disappear like that? I wasn't even gone that long!' Going over to your desk, you shut your book and put it back on your shelf. 'Looks like I'm not finishing this today...' you think, checking the time. It's the afternoon now. 'Probably for the best.'
