“He seems to like you.” Vince smirked at me. “A lot.” By now I knew they were surprised because Ry was a reserved kid and blah blah blah. I also gather that Mr. Kellen too didn’t speak much. So far he had either frowned or kept a neutral expression. He did smile but only when directing it to his son. I wish he smiled more. Javier Kellen was an attractive man. He was tall handsome and well built. He had the same dirty blonde hair like his son but they had different eyes. Ry had grey eyes while his father had chocolate brown. I don’t shy away from admiring true beauty and let me tell you, he truly was a piece of art. His dark blue suit made him look more appealing. And when combined with that dimpled smile, it was enough to give girls a heart attack. If I hadn’t sworn to never fall for any guy I would have totally crushed on him. Besides he was married.

“Lets order some food.” Mr Kellen said breaking the silence.

“I am not hungry.” I mumbled but he ignored me. Great. He doesn’t even respect others choices. Handsome and arrogant? Anything else?

“How is Lee, Ellie?” Ry asked. He had tilted his head back and was looking up to me.

“He is fine. Why are you asking? Do you like him more?”

“Oh no Ellie. I like you the most.” He giggled as I mock glared at him.

“Really, what about me?” Mr. Kellen asked. He was smiling and his eyes glinted playfully.

“I like you the most too Daddy.”

“And me?” Vince asked like an excited child.

“I don’t like you.” Ry said and started laughing loudly at Vince’s pouted face.
“You hurt me Riley.”

“I was joking Uncle Vinny. I like you too. But I like Daddy more.” Mr. Kellen looked proud as he straightened up as the food arrived.

“Ellie, can you feed me like you did that day? Please.” He asked. That day, he was smearing cheesecake all over his face and clothes so I had taken it upon myself to feed him small chunks of the cake.

“You can eat yourself , Riley.” His father said.

“But I don’t want to. Please Ellie. My hands hurt.” The men at the table looked amused and I couldn’t suppress my chuckle. He was clearly lying.

“Okay. But I cannot feed you if you sit on my lap. Can you sit here?” I asked patting the empty seat beside me. Ry pouted and sat down on the seat.

JAVIER POV

My son was getting very clever. He lied on all of our faces. I mean it was pathetic lie but the way he was acting like a puppy around this girl was really adorable. I could also see that she was behaving very kindly towards him.

“And Ry?” she said as she cut his food in a small piece and fed him.

“Hmm?” my son asked looking up at her with his big innocent eyes. Where did he learn these tricks from? He was trying to charm her and it was amusing. He is going to be a heart breaker one day.

“Lying is bad. Good boys never lie. Do you know why?” she then proceeded to tell him the story of pinocchio. As he heard him with full concentration and finished his food.

“She is quite good with him, isn’t she?” Vince said quietly in my ear while they both were busy.

“yes. But why is he behaving that way with her?” I asked with a scowl. “he is like a puppy waggling his tail behind her.” I was jealous, alright? It took me hours to get him to eat properly and here he was eating out of her hand, pun intended. I mean it was good she corrected him when he lied. I don’t want my son to be a liar but Shouldn’t I be the one teaching him these things?

“He needs a woman in his life , Jay. How many time will I tell you?”

“And I get him nannies!”

“But they aren’t his mother. He needs someone to love him like a mother does.” I sighed. He was right. It was time for me to settle down. But I didn’t want to rush into a decision because it wasn’t just me but Lee at stake too. I needed someone who can love us both. We were interrupted by the devil himself.

“Daddy, did my nosey grow long?” he asked panicked , touching and checking his nose. Elise shook her head fondly at him and right then and there I made my decision.

“No, Lee. It was your first time so it didn’t grow but if you lie again then it will.” I said pulling a serious face. It was difficult really.

“Which remind me, who is Lee? Riley asked about earlier?” Vince asked.

“He is my brother.” She said looking at me. “He is the one who called you that day.” I remember him. He had a name with an E too.

“Look Ms. Rivers, I will cut the chase and tell you that I have decided that you will be my PA.” Her face turned surprised before breaking into a grin. “Thank-“ I held up my hand to stop her. “However, this is a demanding job.”

She sat up straight and pulled a serious face. She gave a curt nod to show that she was all ears.

“You will be paid handsomely but I work around the clock. My working hours are not limited to office hours and as my PA you will have to adjust according to it. I work mostly from my home and you will have to run between my office and home.” I told her. This was one of the reasons my old PA resigned. It was really tiring for him to work around the clock to suit my need. She seemed to be considering it. I could see the gears turning in her head.

ELISE’S POV

I wanted to work badly. I no longer wished to pay back Lee but I wanted to help him and this job would pay me good. However the problem was that I didn’t have a car. Teresa sold my car without my consent and I haven’t bought one yet. It wasn’t like Lee was very rich that I could ask him for a car. I would have to take a bus or get an uber for the first month and then buy a car from my salary. It would be expensive for the first month but I think it will be good in the long run.

“I think I can do it Mr. Kellen.” I told him. I felt a poke on my stomach which made me jump and turned to look at Ry who was waiting with his mouth open. I couldn’t help smiling as I fed him another morsel.

This had to be the weirdest interview in the world but I can’t complain when I actually got the job. Mr. Kellen told me to start working from Monday at eight and to report at his home. He also asked Mr. Decker or Vince to give me some files to study. I told Vince my address and he said that the files will be delivered by tonight at my door. I also came to know that I will have my office and a room in their home and to bring whatever I need for when I stay there along with me on Monday. The meeting was over along with our food.

“I will see you on Monday then , Ellie.” Vince said as we shook our hand.

I gave him a polite smile and said an okay.

“Will I see you too?” Ry asked as he hugged me around my legs.

“I think so sweetheart.” I hugged him back and planted a kiss on his forehead. He looked delighted to hear it.

“Yay!” he exclaimed and went to Mr. Kellen. “Wow Daddy, you are goodest.” He said.

“We say best Lee. Not goodest.” Mr. Kellen corrected him. “And I know I am the best.”

“Thank you, Mr. Kellen for this opportunity. I won’t disappoint you.”

“You better not.” He said seriously. This man meant business.

I nodded and took my leave.
