Kasey's POV

I struggled a lot today with having to stay away from everyone that carried Jade's scent. To be honest, I lost control a couple times, mainly just my eyes thankfully. This is going to be so freaking difficult, it's unbelievable.

The school day finally came to an end and surprisingly, our lacrosse practice was cancelled. I think that was definitely the safest call our coach has ever made without even knowing it.

As I headed for the exit, I saw Sean standing near the school doors, waiting for me. I sighed and walked up to him.

"Ah there you are! Ready?" He asked.

"I guess." I said. He pat my shoulder before leading me outside. I immediately spotted Ryder's truck parked in the pickup line. I climbed into the backseat nervously.

"How'd you do?" Ryder asked. His deep voice echoed. I looked down.

"Uh better than I expected, I guess!" I said.

"What do you mean?" He asked.

"I uh mainly had trouble controlling my eyes whenever I caught her scent." I said, truthfully. I glanced up to see him slightly nodding.

I became even more nervous as we got to their house. Their house was large, but old. It sat on a huge lot, and the exterior paint was peeling off. It had a huge covered, wrap around porch. It was two stories tall, but on the side of the house was a cellar door that lead into the basement, where they kept me last night.

"Are you the only ones that live here?" I asked as we stepped out of the truck.

"Yep!" Ryder said, flatly.

"What about your parents?" I asked. Ryder sighed.

"The rest of our family left to join another pack." He said.

"Why didn't you go with them?" I asked.

"Because my mate is here! I refused to leave her! Sean stayed because we're stronger in numbers." Ryder said.

"So if we're stronger in numbers, why are you so against me being your beta? Why do you hate me so much?" I asked.

"I don't hate you! I'm not against you being my beta either! Its because it's harder to train bitten betas! Plus you shouldn't have to be like us, we were born this way! We don't know anything other than being a werewolf." He explained.

"If I didn't want to be your alpha, you wouldn't be here!" He added. I nodded.

"Ready?" He asked. I nodded nervously. He pulled his shirt off which made me extremely nervous.

"Kasey, relax! No need to be nervous!" Ryder said, as if he read my mind. I pulled off my hoodie and tossed it onto the porch stairs.

"You need to get angry, get your pulse racing." Ryder said.

"How do I do that?" I asked. He walked up to me and shoved me to the ground. "What the hell!" I yelled before getting back to my feet, but he just shoved me to the ground again.

"Stop!" I yelled again. I tried to get up again, but I was just pushed to the ground once again. Okay now he's pissing me off! I growled, then attempted to get up and tackle him, but it was like hitting a brick wall. He grabbed my arms from around his waist then kicked me in the gut, sending me through the air. I hit the railing of the porch before smacking the ground, hard. I shifted and glared up at Ryder through my glowing eyes. At an impossible speed, I got up and ran for Ryder, hitting him with all my body weight, tackling him to the ground. He flipped us over and attempted to hold me down, but I used my feet to push him off, sending him into a tree. I got up and went to punch him but his claws slashed my chest. I roared in pain and dropped to my hands and knees, coughing up blood.
