Lestat had said that living close to the swamps will come in handy and I'm glad we are here. I look around and spot a big tree that is drooping to its right. I can bury the body behind the tree and no one should notice.
I take a deep breath and place the shovel on top of the body. While holding on to both the wrists I drag it all the way to the tree. When I drop the limp body behind the tree I glance up for a moment and see the rising sun in the distance.
A groan left my lips. If I hurry I can have this body in the ground ready to rot in no time.

After I've finished patting down the ground I lean against the tree and close my eyes. A cool breeze blows through my loosely braided hair. I don't bother to place flying strands of red hair behind my ears.
I feel the rays of the sun on my face. I don't want to but I open my eyes and see that the sun is halfway up. The first time I'd been out in the daylight for several years. It's an odd sensation. Everyone in the house has been laid to rest. Now I have to clean up the mess I've been making in the kitchen. I still haven't perfected the bread just yet.
But my never-ending flow of determination gives me the strength to master bread making. No matter how long it takes me.
I dust off my dress as best I can and even smudged dirt on my left cheek. The walk back to the house was somewhat long but I enjoy the nice early morning air. I'm careful when I enter.
I close all the blinds and curtains. I know no one will awaken at a daylight hour but I just want to be safe. It's taking me so much time to find a broom in this house. I've been looking everywhere for it and it hasn't turned up yet. I've been all over the house.
"Damnit." I curse out loud when I check a small hallway closet for the third time just to make sure. I'm just about to give up but that was when I felt a small gust of wind blowing along the base of my dress.
The man behind me slides his arm around my waist bringing me closer. His cool breath fanned beneath my ear and onto my neck. A shiver rushes down my back when he places his soft lips on my warm flesh. I had to bite my lip to keep a sigh from escaping me.
"Lestat." I hummed aloud when his hand squeezed my hip. I twisted in his arms and looked up at the blonde vampire. His usual smirk was worn with much pride. I've seen this look so many times. It's the one where he is seeing something that he is enjoying such as a meal.
"Why haven't you laid down to rest, my darling?" I sadly leave his embrace and back away to see that he is in fact holding the broom in his other hand. I placed my hands on my hips and scoffed. Should have known he would be messing with me.
Every chance he gets he is always taking the things I look for at that moment and suddenly appears with them in hand. He thinks it's an amusing game and likes the way I get frustrated with him for it. He says that it gives the whole ordeal flavor.
"Well I figured you could use this so luckily, I found it for you, it was placed down in the basement." Lestat grabs my left hand and gives me the damned broom.
I can't help but give him a look that hopefully gives away a pissed-off energy. Surely he must understand my ever-growing anger toward his childish behavior. But of course, he just gives me the same look in return.
"Thank you for that, but please go down and sleep." I walk up and place my free hand upon his slightly cold cheek. He closed his eyes and leaned into my touch. The very second his violet eyes opened up he was gone. I wouldn't see him until sunset but at least I know he will be safe and sound. Not that anything or anyone is a real threat to him or to the rest of my family.
