"What's going on, Sammy?"
He shook his head and frowned, "I don't like it when you leave. I worry about you."
You attempted to ease his worry, rubbing circles into his hands with your thumbs. "I give you my word that we'll be safe. I don't know where we're going, but Bucky would never bring me somewhere dangerous."
Sam pulled his hands from yours and glared at Bucky. "Where are you taking her?"
"It's a surprise," Bucky answered with a laugh.
You laughed as Sam began to pout, kissing his forehead and going back to Bucky. He wrapped an arm around you and pulled you close without turning from where he was whispering with Steve. Steve nodded and gave him a pat on the back, ending their secret conversation.
"We're leaving as soon as we finish packing, so I guess this is goodbye," Bucky told the team.
One by one, everyone said their goodbyes. Natasha held onto you tight and let you know that she would call you once a week to check in. Sam had to be pulled from your arms by Natasha. Clint gave you the fatherly rundown and gave you a list of precautions to take in any scenario you might find yourself in, making you roll your eyes, but smile nonetheless. After saying goodbye to the rest of the team, you said goodbye to your father.
"I'm gonna miss you, boots," he whispered as he held you in his arms. "I know you'll only be gone for two months, but in dad years that is like two years. Who knows how much will change in that time. What if you come back preg- actually, let's not talk about that."
You laughed into his chest, hiding your panic. That was definitely not happening any time soon.
"Don't get carried away, dad. Peter will make you a grandpa before I do," you joked.
Tony faked a cry as he pushed you away from him. "Leave. I don't want you here anymore."
You kissed his cheek, bringing a smile to his face. Once Bucky was done getting threatened by Natasha and saying goodbye to Sam and Steve, he grabbed your hand and walked the two of you back to your room.
Bucky sat down on your bed as you disappeared into your closet to grab more clothes. "I hope it wasn't too much of a shock to find out how long we're going to be away. We can come home any time you want though."
You pulled out another suitcase and filled it with the clothes, zipping it closed and putting it with your other suitcase on the bed.
"It's fine, babe. I want to be a normal couple for once."
Bucky pulled you to stand between his legs and gave you a teasing smile. "Nothing about us is normal, doll. I have a vibranium arm and you can do weird energy stuff."
You thought about it for a second and huffed out a laugh. "You make a point there," you relented. "Now let's get going."
You were about to walk away, but Bucky had something else planned. He pulled you onto his lap and slid his hands under your shirt to rub up your back.
"I'm gonna' marry you one day," he whispered.
You played with the hair on the back of his neck and smirked at him. "Yeah? Where are we getting married?"
The idea of marrying Bucky didn't scare you as much as you thought it would. You wanted your future to be with him, marriage or not. You didn't need a legally-binding document to validate your relationship, but if both of you decided to get married one day, then you would.
"Hmm," Bucky pretended to think it over. "I'm picturing a Brooklyn wedding. Steve is my best man while Sam is your matron of honor. It'll just be us and the team... and maybe a cat."
