There was chatter coming from the other side of the heavy metallic door. You wondered why there was more than one person in front of your cell. Perhaps some guards came to take you or maybe the whole task force was there. But why?
Because of Lights disappearance?
The door was opened and you could see the outlines of a familiar person standing on the other side of the room once your vision became clear again.
Your heart was beating very fast, but it was too much for you to handle. You felt like blood was rushing up to your brain making your head heat up. Then everything became distant and black.
You fainted there on spot.
Typical...
L always messed up with your emotions.
Even after his deaths, he kept coming back to haunt you.
You saw him standing on the frame of the door that a guard had opened for him. He was covering his nose while staring at you losing your consciousness. He knew what he was expecting on the other side of the door you guessed.
"Get the medics. You. Handle the corpse. No one touches the death notes." L commanded while holding a half-eaten doughnut in his other hand and stepped aside.
You were brought back to your apartment that was in the same building as the headquarters of the investigation. You were laid on your bed and left alone to rest since there was nothing wrong with you.
It took you a while until you regained your consciousness. You opened your eyes and stared at the white ceiling that was above you. The next thing you noticed was the smell. This familiar smell of your room brought a feeling of comfort to you. You took a deep breath and cuddled your soft blanket. You felt relief that put a smile upon your face. You turned to your side and looked at the window that was there in front of you. It was already evening.
In the corner between window and door, where you had placed a small table, you found a box from a doughnut shop. You sat up and curiously stared at it. Then you got up and walked over to it. Next to the box was a glass of-
'Is that coffee?' You wondered and grabbed it. You took a sip of the cold drink and wondered if it was hot and got cold or if it was cold from the start. You opened the box and found three doughnuts and a piece of strawberry cake.
L's favorite.
"He was real!" You said to yourself surprised. "I didn't imagine him." You felt relief and let out a laugh knowing that he must have been the one who brought them for you. You also concluded that he must have gotten you iced coffee so it would still be drinkable after you had woken up.
You guessed, that there was a difference between coffee that had gotten cold and coffee that was intended to be drunken coldly.
You sat down at the table and enjoyed the sweet meal.
You couldn't help but smile.
A tear escaped your eye and rolled down your cheek.
It was a tear of happiness.
Yes, L was back and you didn't know what to think anymore. You thought he was gone, but he came back. Then you thought he was gone again, but he came back. Something made you believe that L was immortal. You felt like you wanted to let out all your happiness and surprise, but there was no energy left in you for that.
The last weeks have been very tiring.
After your meal, you took a long hot shower and enjoyed every second of it. Being locked up made you enjoy and value everything you had, no matter how tiny it seemed. You got dressed and decided to go down to the headquarters. You were curious to see if L was there, or perhaps the other detectives.
