So, does this mean that if a half-shinigami breaks the rules of a real Shinigami, it would be considered a humane act? And when L killed Light to save you, he sacrificed himself which is how he was able to turn himself back into a human?
It made sense to you. Confusing, but it made sense.
You were fascinated by how much was out there that no one knew about - well close to no one-. You wondered what else existed that no one knew about, perhaps the opposite of death gods that carried a life note. You also wondered who the first death god was and if he was still there in the shinigami realm.
How did he become a shinigami, you asked yourself.
Aizawa came up to you, with a cup of coffee in his hand. "It's nice to see you again." he started the conversation. You smiled but didn't reply. You knew he came to you to talk about something else.
Perhaps L.
"The detectives don't know anything about L's time as a half shinigami yet. We are planning on discussing everything later, once everyone else is gone."
"Ah." You uttered.
"Also, L said that he didn't remember anything about the time after his death. He said he had a long vivid dream, but that's all." Aizawa explained. "I summarized everything for him, but we have to explain everything later." He paused and looked at you. His eyes were sparkling. "I'm sorry- but I have to ask!" Aizawa uttered. "What happened in your cell?" He wondered. He seemed very curious, as if he had thought about it a lot, but couldn't solve the mystery of what must have happened that caused L and Light to die and leave their death notes in your cell. You sensed how he was not the only one wondering about that. Everyone had questions, but they seemed hesitant- or even afraid to ask.
You didn't know where you should begin to explain or what you should even tell him. Perhaps it was better to discuss that with everything else in the meeting with the task force. "You will know later." You decided and he nodded.
A few hours passed before you finally met L again.
It was already dark, the sun had set a while ago and stars were sparkling all over the dark sky. L was standing alone on the balcony, that was attached to the room. he was wearing his usual clothes. A loose white shirt and baggy jeans with no shoes on. He was looking outside into nothingness and you wondered where his mind took him.
Slowly you approached him and waited for him to give you attention. You didn't want to interrupt him and were prepared to wait for a while. In the meantime, you would sort your thoughts, because there was so much you wanted to say to him. So much, that it would be the easiest to just stay silent.
"Yes?" He uttered in a calm tone without moving or turning around.
"Uh-" You had no idea how to respond to that. "I didn't think you noticed me." You uttered in surprise. L turned to you. "Even if I'm in my head, I don't lose sight of my surroundings." He explained. "That's something you could work on." He pointed out and you rolled your eyes. He hasn't changed at all, but that wasn't a bad thing.
L was L.
You thought about what had happened since L died the first time and you joined the Japanese Taskforce. You were trying to remember all the things you wanted to ask or tell him, but none of these things were in your mind anymore. It was as if they were washed away with Light's death and L's resurrection. It was like, your mind was at ease and it didn't make any demands. At peace, because the case was closed and you and L made it through.
You recalled how he wrote Light's name in his death note to save you. And how stupid that move seemed at first, but it wasn't. If only the half-shinigami from the ancient story knew the irony of how to turn back into a human.
