"Use the micellar water along with the cotton pads." Yasmine said loudly making sure he could hear, before placing a tray of sliced apples and caramel on the glass stand in front of me.
She sat next to Pablo on the couch.
"Come here." Was he said when he reached down and placed her feet into his lap.
I smiled warmly at them.
I used to look away from any sort of romantic affection, not wanting to be reminded of what I had and ultimately lost.
It took a lot to get over that. To see a couple in love and not want to burst into tears.
"V, the chicken dip." Tam gestured to the abundant amount on her plate, breaking me out of my thoughts. "So good." Her comment made me laugh, she said this everytime I make it.
"It's starting." I shouted in the direction of the bathroom trying to startle my brother.
I shoved some of the shrimp fried rice in my mouth as my brother rushed with makeup smeared on his face.
I smiled in amusement watching him have a mini panic session, running as fast as he could to the couch.
It was the day of the Superbowl, Pablo and Yasmine were hosting a party at their house.
It also meant that Valentine's Day was approaching.
My first Valentine's Day as a divorcee. I was looking forward to it.
The game was intense especially with Tam and Kayden's competition hanging over the rest of us.
I personally didn't choose a team to root for, I'd rather just enjoy watching the game, mainly the halftime performance.
I had already decided to play with Alexandria until the perfomance when she usually went to bed.
We dressed up her expansive collection of dolls, had a glamorous tea party with them before playing a few short games of checkers.
Twenty minutes before the performance, I helped Alexandria brush her teeth, put on her bonnet, and made sure her sugar levels were ok. After that, she picked a book to read for storytime.
"If you give a mouse a cookie, he's going to ask for a glass of milk...."
............................................................................
"I told you they were going to win." Tam said triumphantly.
"Of they did. It's obvious that they cheated." He exclaimed.
"They did not."
"Yes, they did."
"No, they didn't."
"Yes!"
"No!"
"Whose team is better?" They both asked me simultaneously.
I shrugged my shoulders and kept walking. Alexandria went to bed before I finished the book.
The halftime performance was somewhat disappointing.
"Both teams did a good job." I shrugged, trying to keep neutral.
The three of us had already said our goodbyes to Pablo and Yasmine.
I continued walking ahead of them, ignoring their complaints of me always being unbiased.
We made it to my car where Tam and I got in.
"Be safe. I love you guys."
"Alright. Love you too." I said back.
"See you later Kaden." Tam responded.
