Breaking The Loop

Chapter One

     I crawl into the attic and Mono is right behind me. I see the suitcase we need to push to get over the cupboard; I go over to it pushing on it. "Come on Mono, help me please, we need to move this to get over the cupboard." He helps me push the suitcase, when it hits the cupboard I crawl onto it and up onto the cupboard. I jump down. Mono is beside me in a second.

     I see the crank system and the key hanging from the hook. "Hey there's a key, maybe we can find something to get it." I point to the crank system. "Maybe we can find the crank handle somewhere and use it to get the key." I suggest. Mono walks over to another cupboard.

     "Maybe there's something on the other side of this, ready for another boost?" I nod and put my foot in his hands again.

     He boosts me up and onto the cupboard, I turn back to him and tell him I'll be right back. I then desend and crawl through a hole under some furniture. When I reach the other side I see the crank in a woman's hand and I grimace at what is about to happen. I pull on the crank and instead of just the crank the entire arm comes down as well. It falls onto me and I kick it away.

     "Ew." I grab the crank and crawl back through the hole under the furniture. I walk up some boards and back onto the top of the dresser. "Hey Mono! Look what I found!" I say to him as I hold the crank proudly above my head.

     I hear him laugh. "Okay, how about we use it?" I toss it down at him and jump down. He goes and puts it into the system to pull the human shaped bag up. I climb onto the bag and he pulls it as far up as it will go. I climb as high as I can on the bag and I jump off, turning in the air so I can grab the key. I hit the key with my hand and it swings on the hook before falling off. I hit the floor hard but I stand right as Mono rushes over to me.

     "Are you okay? That was a hard fall." I just smile at him.

     "Never felt better." He just looks at me before he goes over to the key and picks it up. He puts it somewhere in his coat and I walk over to him. "Where did you put it?" He shows me the inside of his coat and I see the key is in a pocket.

     We go back over to the cupboard and pull out a shelf full of clothes to climb back up. We reach the attic door and I climb down the ladder. When Mono gets down we go over to the door and he uses the key to unlock the padlock on it. We walk outside and I see a outhouse and I remember there's a glitching remain in it in the game. Are they here now?

     "Hey Mono, can you boost me up so I can open the door?" He looks at me, then the outhouse, and then back to me.

     "Why?"

     "I wanna see something." He shrugs and stands by the door. He boosts me up and I unlatch the door. The door slowly opens to reveal a over filled toilet with a moose picture above it. I feel disappointed that the glitching remains aren't here but I guess it was me just hoping.

     "Ok, there's a picture of a moose, is that what you wanted to see? Or was it the over filled toilet?" I can hear the amusement in Mono's voice.

     I shrug. "I thought there'd be something else in there, I was wrong." Mono shrugs himself and we walk into the shed next to us. We push a big box towards a window in the shed and when we can't move it anymore we jump on top of it. Mono jumps through the window first and I follow him. I fall onto soft animal pelts and I see Mono crouching in front of me. Then I hear it. The sound of ripping flesh. I crouch down beside Mono and resist the urge to grab his hand for comfort.

     I look at him and he nods. We creep behind the Hunter and towards the board we have to push to get out of here. I look at the Hunter as we walk past him. Playing the game he didn't look so big, but being here in person, it's scary. We reach the board and me and Mono push it.

     It makes a loud creak as it opens and I hear a startled grunt come from the Hunter. We roll down something disgusting and I immediate get up running towards the nearest box. The Hunter slams the door open and shoots the fence. Me and Mono run behind the first box and it gets blasted to smithereens. We run to the next box only for that one to explode from the bullet the Hunter shoots.

     We run behind a final box before it gets shot. We then run towards the small cave like hole in the ground. We jump down and hide in the shadows as the Hunter walks up searching for us with his lantern. I stay close behind Mono as the Hunter searches for us.

     We walk forward into the tall grass and when a crow flies up in alarm we crouch down hiding behind the tall grass as the Hunter scans the area for us. We walk forward when the Hunter's light leaves us, and soon we reach the area where we have to run for the hole. "Ok Jay, you go first and then I'll follow." I shake my head. "No, you go, I'll be right behind you." He looks at me for a second before he nods.

       When the Hunter isn't looking he dashes for the hole and jumps down. The sound of him running alerts the Hunter but he doesn't see either of us. When he turns his head to look for us I dash for the hole. I hear a startled grunt come from him as I jump down the hole. I crawl forward meeting up with Mono and behind me I hear the Hunter shoot down into the hole. Mono looks at me and I can tell he's worried. "Mono I'm fine, let's get out of here please." He nods and we crawl forward and push through some roots out into the open.
