Chapter 24

"Oh, um yea she is doing pretty well, i will look into school"

"Thank you, now unfortunately you only have 2 weeks to have her back in the 9th grade for the remaining time"

"Yea of course, thank you for calling"

We ended the phone call and I went back to look at my calendar, Jessica's accident happend January 7th, and it's now May 8th, her birthday is December 14th and she'll be 16 then, and going into the 10th grade in august

I doubt she is going to like the idea of having to go back to school for just more than. A month. I just hope she is able to get caught up in time,

After going over the timeline of everything that has happened in these few shorty months I finished my paper work and headed out of my office to find Callie

I found her at a nurses station signing some papers and I walked up next to her

"Hi" I smile

"Hey!" She smiles back and gives the nurse the paper and the two of us start walking down an empty hallway,

"Can I kiss you?" She ask and I roll my eyes and nod

She leaned in to kiss me and when we pulled apart someone was standing in the hallway behind us

"George" Callie breathes out

"I- Um I was just going" he says and turns around and walks away

"Hey" I say to Callie who turned in his direction

"Well know he knows and there is nothing stopping me from doing this" she says and turned to me and wrapped one arm around my back and inched her lips closer to mine

"That's not how I thought you were going to react" I laugh and kiss her again and her pager goes off,

"I'll see you later" she says and kisses my cheek and leaves me In the hallway

As the day went on Callie and I were hesitant about showing our affection for each other, sharing little kisses here and there as we pass each inter or in the lounge, everyone has caught on by now and I couldn't be more happier for the both of us,

We were both off now and meeting outside of the hospital. Callie decided that she would stay at her home tonight to give Jess and I a chance to talk about her going back to school

"You coming up?" I ask once we pull into the parking lot at my apartment bustling and she nods

The two of us make our way to my apartment hand in hand,

"Jessica! I'm home" I call out when we get into the Apartment

"Hi! How was work?" She ask smiling

"It was good, but we do need to talk later" I say returning her hug And her smile dropped off her face at the mention of us talking

"Nothing bad" I say and she nods

"Okay" she smiles

"I'm going to go and I'll see you two ladies tomorrow" Callie says

"Bye!" Jess says

"Bye, I love you" Callie says, giving me a quick kiss and walked out of the apartment and I immediately looked to jess to see if she caught what I did

"Whoa" she said

"Did she just-" she ask and I nod

"Maybe it was an accident" I say and she smirks

"Sure.... Or maybe she actually loves you" she says, it's too early isn't it?

"Anyway..... let's talk?" I say, distracting myself

"Mmhmm" she says still smirking at me and I roll my eyes

"So social services called earlier. You need to go back to school,  starting Monday" I say, as it was now Thursday

"What? It's like a month left" she says and I nod

"I know, but you can walk now and if you don't. Go we both get in trouble" I say and she sighs

"But my school is not in this district" she says

"I know, and since it's only a month, I can take you to school and pick you up but you have to come back to the hospital with me afterwards, then next year, we'll have to change schools" I say watching her face for changes in her expressions

"I know it's not ideal but it's the best I got for now" I say

"Okay... maybe starting over is what I need" she says and I smile softly

"And.... I wanted to ask if I could go see Ava tomorrow" she ask and I smile

"Of course," I tell her, I am glad she is wanting to get out of the house

The rest of the evening we ordered in and ate on the couch and laughed while we talked, she went to bed a little past 10 and I followed

What Callie said still running through my mind, maybe it really was just an accident or maybe Jess was right and maybe she does love me
