It was moments like this when Kaminari became heavily frustrated with himself, because he was useless. With an ally by his side, he couldn't do a thing, even though his Quirk was better suited against her than Ashido's.
Ashido stopped, despite the closeness of Lightbringer to them, and began to spew acid in the woman's direction, doing her absolute best in their current situation.
"Mina!" Kaminari yelled, scooting to a stop and turning around to grab her wrist and run away with her.
"No, keep going! If you make it to the exit, I'm sure you'll still pass!" Her voice was urgent, seeing as she watched as her acid evaporated before her very eyes.
"No, we'll both pass!" The boy yelled, latching his hand around her wrist.
"I SAID GO!" The girl pushed him away, and as Lightbringer approached, she splashed as much acid in her direction, despite knowing it was pointless.
Kaminari wanted to stay and help, but he couldn't, not with his Quirk. So, the boy turned tale and ran, mentally swearing at himself as he looked for the exit, finally escaping the pipeline prison that just so happened to be half of the area they were assigned to.
Ashido froze in fear, because as [L/n] halted her Quirk and the young girl got a good look at what Lightbringer looked like, it horrified her.
The girl watched as Lightbringer grabbed the pole from her waist, one that soon formed a naginata, the blade at the end glowing as bright as the sun. She had made sure to grab it before the exam started, though the costume itself was still her old one.
"Sorry, Mina Ashido, but it's the end of the line."
The girl could've swore that in that moment, before [L/n] hit her with the back of the blade and flung her into the wall, that there were raging flames in her eyes.
"Gah!" Ashido screamed as her body violently bounced against the wall, coughing as her body then hit the floor. She went to push her hands against the ground to get herself up, but [L/n] activated her Quirk
"Risking your life to save a fellow heroes may be noble, but what good are you dead?"
There was nothing she could do, she knew that.
Despite [L/n] proceeding to deactivate her Quirk once she spoke her piece and going after Kaminari, Ashido didn't move a muscle. Am I really this weak?
Kaminari hadn't been able to find the exit, continuously stopping and wondering if he should turn around and try to help Ashido. He kept pushing forward, though, not wanting her sacrifice to be in vain.
Finally! He saw the decorated exit, but his heart stopped as he saw [L/n] sitting cross-legged in the center of it, humming, her eyes a bright gold.
I guess this is all I can do. Now that they were alone and no one else was around, he could use his Quirk, and he planned on using it to the fullest.
Maybe he wouldn't pass, being too dumbed out to make it through the exit, but he could claim that he took her down, that he and Ashido, while they lost, they also won.
The boy grinned. "Now that I'm on my own, I guess I can go all out!" He proclaimed, the woman standing up and staring him down.
"Bring it on, Denki Kaminari." She stated, popping her knuckles. She didn't activate her Quirk, she merely stood there, waiting.
The moment she saw him activate his Quirk, she activated her own.
From the other testing sights, the mass of light and electricity could be seen, neither really affecting the other, element wise.
Kaminari's Quirk stopped, and his body hit the ground.
"Dehydration can take quite toll, boy. Exerting everything you have, especially after being under intense heat as you were earlier, has a drastic effect on your body." The woman took in a breath and let out a soft sigh.
"Mina Ashido, Denki Kaminari, you've failed your practical exam." She knew neither of them could hear her, but she said it anyways. Moments later, she watched as Ashido drug herself to the scene, seeing the unconscious boys body.
"Before you panic, he's okay. He overexerted himself, so he fell unconscious." Lightbringer explained with a soft smile, a look Ashido was glad to see after their previous encounter.
As Lightbringer was about to walk away, she was stopped by the girls voice.
"Lightbringer?" Ashido asked, picking up Kaminari and hoisting his body over her shoulder, despite her own exhaustion.
"Yes?" She asked, turning to face the student.
"Earlier, you said something to me. That it may be noble to sacrifice yourself for a fellow hero, but that you're no good dead. What about at the USJ, what you did for Aizawa Sensei?" Ashido prompted, tilting her head to the side while still balancing Kaminari over her shoulder.
Lightbringer winked and skipped away.
