三 : field trip

You nod happily and run up to the group of first years.

"Gojo-sensei says it's time for lunch and that we should get ready for the missions! [Y/N] wants to have rice balls for lunch please!"

The group looks to you and agrees, "Ok let's go then [Y/N]!"

ᴛɪᴍᴇ ꜱᴋɪᴘ - ᴛʜᴇ ᴀꜰᴛᴇʀɴᴏᴏɴ

Gojo takes Maki, Yuta, and you to an elementary school. You look around with sparkles in your eyes.

"wah!! Is this the place Megumi-nii talks to me about?? It looks like a lot of fun! [Y/N] wants to go to school here!!"

Yuta sweatdrops at your enthusiasm, "here?"

Gojo nods his head, "this is a normal elementary school."

He smirks and continues, "and ordinary school where kids go missing."

"go missing?!?!" Yuta begins to panic and instinctively holds onto your hand to keep you from running around.

As Gojo explains how the curses manifested to Yuta, you try to break out of Yuta's surprisingly strong grip on your hand.

Maki notices your struggles and walks over to help you, "here one second [Y/N]..." and proceeds to chop Yuta on the head making him instinctively reach for the top of his head.

"oww..." he rubs his sore head as Gojo puts the screen up. 

"That which frightens more than darkness itself... that which is darker than black... purify this defilement."

Gojo puts a hand on Yuta's shoulder, "this is the 'screen'. It makes you invisible to the outside... and causes curses to appear."

He then begins to walk away with a final word.

"Then it should be easy to solve the problem from the inside. Alright then, I sincerely hope... you don't die."

"die... Sensei?!" Yuta begins to panic once more while Maki becomes more serious.

"Transfer student. Don't look away."

You look to where Maki is staring, "oooh curses! Maki-nee please let me play with them!"

Maki glances at you and subtlety nods her head as you cheer.

"yaaay!! Thank you Maki-nee!!"

You bound towards the curse and shift your backpack.

"Are you sure she should be getting so close to them?!?!"

"Don't yell." Maki observes you as get ready to explode the curses.

"Remember this." your little red tome appears out of your backpack as you lift you little hands in the air.

"When it comes to curses... The weak ones always come in swarms."

As she says this the curses are obliterated in a large explosion.

Yuta is stunned while Maki grins approvingly at you.

"Nice one [Y/N]! Was that a new bomb?"

"Wow... that was a huge explosion..."

You grin at the two of them, "yep! That was [Y/N]'s new creation!! Wasn't it so strong and cool?!"

You blabber on about your bombs as the three of you enter the elementary school.

Excited you run around as Yuta and Maki 'talk'.

"Don't call me call me by my last name." Maki sourly retorts.

Yuta stammers, "S-sorry. But it looks like a ton of curses may jump out at any second. Well, some already have, I guess."

Maki stares at Yuta seeming to be thinking about something.

Suddenly she speaks up, "Hey. What rank are you?"

Yuta looks at her blankly. "huh?"

She sighs thinking about a certain white-haired sorcerer's incompetence as a teacher.

"Shamans are ranked from fourth grade to first grade. For example I'm a grade 4."

"I don't have one I don't think? Does [Y/N] have a grade?" Yuta looks at Maki quizzically.

"Forget it. Show me your student ID." Maki roughly grabs his ID from his hand, as she looks at it her eyes grow wide.

"You- you have the same grade as [Y/N]...."

Yuta begins yelling, trying to get Maki's attention as she's staring at his ID intently.

"Zen'in-san!!" Maki jolts as Yuta's voice brings her back to reality.

"Behind you..."

Before the two of them can do anything the curse attempts to eat them as they're flung into the air and Yuta is knocked unconscious.

"Shit!! That thing's freakishly huge!"

The curse's mouth rushes towards them as gravity pulls them down. Trying to use her naginata to stay out of it's mouth, it's tooth scratches her and she drops her weapon.

Reaching the curses stomach Maki curses, "damn!!! I dropped my weapon! Spit us out, dammit!"

Yuta begins to stir as he regains consciousness.

"Where are we?"

A/N : omg the pacing is like,,, so bad helpksjd i was supposed to finally finish the first chapter of the prequel manga but it was too long so 💀💀 i rlly hope i'm not boring u all to death haha :')
ik u probably wanna see the actual present events but i promise it will come in due time ! oh and also how was [Y/N]'s tiny fight scene?? i'm rlly bad at describing stuff like that but i tried ! she should be fighting more in the next chappy so if u liked it ig that's smth to look forward to! anyways sorry for the long author's note i hope u r all doing ok tho !! <3
