"Tsk...tsk, Mira," Leanne spoke again. "Your turn will come. I saw him first..." Her words sounded like they had rolled off the tongue of a snake preparing to strike. Logan braced himself as a ball of fire shot through the sphere which exploded in a shower of tiny droplets that glowed golden in the candlelight. Logan ducked at the last minute, and the fireball crashed into the wall behind him. A small splashing sound echoed forward to his ears, followed by a sizzle as Kala doused the fire.

"That's her," Mira finally spoke, stepping away from Leanne so she could have a clear view of Kala and Merik. "You know our directive."

"Our directive isn't going anywhere at the moment," Leanne hissed. "I've decided to take on a small side job in the meantime." She turned her attention back to Logan.

"That was pathetic, Leanne. Not only are you horrible at the art of seduction, but your aim sucks too," Logan goaded.

--------------------

"What the hell is he doing?" Merik asked incredulously.

"He has the upper hand. He obviously knows them. Just let him do his thing," Kala replied, still watching the other Water Servant closely.

"Yea, I'm thinking we might want to take advantage of our position and get out of here while we still can," Merik said, glancing back and forth between the women and Logan.

Logan spoke up just as the floor began to vibrate under their feet, "Don't make me do this, Leanne."

The bartender, who had been standing off to one side, suddenly joined the mix. "No! Logan, please don't do what I think you're gonna do, man. I'm sure we can work it out...you know this place is all I have. Please! I'm beggin' you..."

"Get out, Jay," was all Logan said in reply.

"No, come on! You two..." Jay moved towards the pair of women. "Get the hell out of my bar! I don't want any trouble here. We haven't done a damn thing to Tannish...why are you here? Leave us alone!"

"Jay!" Logan yelled, a booming sound that echoed throughout the small bar with a ferocity that surprised Merik. "GET...OUT!" Luckily for the bartender, Logan's outburst had the desired effect. Jay began backing up slowly, shaking his head. Finally, he turned and ran back into the kitchen, presumably headed for the back exit.

Merik watched as the Fire Servant raised her hand slowly, her index finger pointing up toward the ceiling. A small flame appeared on the tip of her finger, flickering brightly. She cocked her head slightly to the side and produced another sly smile.

Merik couldn't see Logan's eyes, but he could tell something unpleasant was about to happen. Logan's muscles tensed and he clenched his fists.

--------------------

Kala grabbed Merik by the arm and pulled him back just as the floor rippled wildly, the boards splitting and the nails popping up into the air in rapid succession. The floor appeared to be undulating like a wave, and it moved rapidly in the direction of Tannish's two captains.

"Go!" she yelled as she pushed him toward the door. She turned around abruptly, intending to help Logan face his attackers. Instead, she found herself dodging ice daggers aimed directly at her head. If it hadn't been for the support column between her and the other Water Servant, she would have never even seen them coming. Ducking instinctively as the first few daggers hit the wood beam with dull thuds, she yelled at Logan to follow her and turned back for the door.

"On my way," he replied as he backed slowly in her direction. The floor continued to split apart, boards flying up into the air as they separated from the cross beams below. His distraction would only hold the two women off for a short while.
