5. Kai's confession

Start from the beginning

"Kai will be sleeping over tonight." Beomgyu informed him. Taehyun only nodded his head and went to the kitchen to bring their portions over. He placed their bowls of his homemade ramen in front of them. Kai felt a little bit weird being served by his friend but was astonished by his ramen. The smell was amazing and it looked amazing. Taehyun brought out some side dishes which included chicken karaage and fried tempura.

"Going Japanese tonight?" Beomgyu picked up his spoon and drank the tonkotsu broth that Taehyun had prepared and cooked for hours.

"Mhm. Go ahead and enjoy Kylan, don't just stare" Taehyun giggled and sat down opposite of Beomgyu.

"A-ah yes" Kai looked at his bowl of ramen and took a sip of the broth from his spoon. His eyes widened at the rich creamy pork flavour it gave. It was not too salty too. It was just right. He then took a bite of the pork slices and put his hand over his mouth. The soft meat had melted in his mouth. He wondered if this was how heaven would feel like. He let out a satisfied sigh before digging in more. He then ate the side dishes as well. They were also fried perfectly. No wonder Beomgyu wasn't interested in eating out. He had a freaking chef at home. Well, a butler who could do almost everything. It was weird to find out his friends had a master-servant relationship. Oh and how the master liked the servant. It sounded very scandalous to him. He shook his head at that thought. Taehyun and Beomgyu were practically friends.

The three young men were back in the living room again after putting Haruna to sleep. It had been a long day for all of them. They sat on the sofas. Beomgyu raised an eyebrow at Kai, waiting him to speak. Kai nervously played with the sofa cushion he was hugging and took a deep breath before opening his mouth to talk.

"Umm... I d-don't really know how I should tell guys but... I've been lying to you guys all this time. My name isn't Kylan. It's Kai. Kai Kamal Huening." Kai paused and looked at the two. They looked back at him, expecting him to continue.

"Please forgive me... I'm doing this for a reason though! I uh..." Kai looked down on the floor, he honestly regretted talking about this. He felt as if his heart was at his throat and it was difficult for him to speak. He still managed to muster up his courage in the end and finished what he had wanted to say. "I'm actually an Inaxus." He looked up at both Taehyun and Beomgyu, expecting them to see fear in their expressions. However, that didn't happen. Though Taehyun was shocked and surprised, Kai didn't sense fear from him. He then glanced at Beomgyu. Beomgyu didn't show much of a reaction, he only smiled kindly and acceptingly at him, as if he knew all along. Kai was honestly creeped out by him, Beomgyu was way too unpredictable and suspicious.

"So you're trying to not be found out by the Marusae?" Taehyun spoke after piecing everything together in his head.

"Yeah... wait, why did you say that? How did you know they're bad?" Kai questioned.

"I mean... what do we not know? We are from the Choi family after all."

That made sense. They were a very big deal and they probably gathered tons of information. But that didn't make sense as to how Beomgyu might have known that he was an Inaxus. Information about Inaxus was never leaked. He couldn't have known about his real name too. Furthermore, he noticed how both of them took in the information so calmly and naturally. They were indeed weird. Normal people would have freaked out and would take forever to process what they've heard or ask more about his power but the duo did not.

"You guys are creeping me out..." Kai blurted out. They should have been the ones being creeped out but instead it was Kai who was spooked by them.

Beomgyu suddenly burst out laughing and playfully smacked Kai's shoulder. Kai rubbed his shoulder and looked at him weirdly.

"Sorry Kai, we've been hiding things from you too." Beomgyu said. Taehyun shot him a look. He was not going to reveal himself too now, was he? As much as Taehyun wanted to trust Kai completely, he didn't think they should tell him. Beomgyu's power was too strong. The fewer people knew about it, the better and safer for them. Taehyun had became wary of Kai. If the Marusae were after him, they would be dragged in too and it would be a problem if they found out about Beomgyu as well. Taehyun didn't want that to happen. As selfish as it sounded, Taehyun didn't want Kai to be with them anymore as he would endanger Beomgyu. He silently prayed that Beomgyu had thought this through before he spoke again.

"So does your ability have to do with sound?" Beomgyu asked. Taehyun's shoulders relaxed; he was glad that Beomgyu wasn't going to talk about it. Beomgyu pointed to Kai's headphones too as he asked.

"Oh uh yeah, I can see sound waves and hear things from quite a distance. My headphones just give me peace whenever I need it. I guess you can say that I can travel at the speed of sound too. But I can't use it often. I will have to wait for an interval of about 10 minutes before I can use it again."

"No side effects?"

"No."

"Oh, good for you." Beomgyu said with a hint of envy. Kai frowned at that, wondering why he was acting that way.

"Shall we play Splendor?" Taehyun changed the topic and pulled out the Splendor board game from one of the drawers in the living room.

"Aish!" Beomgyu flopped onto the floor and exclaimed with frustration. Taehyun was leading in points and he just took one of the cards Beomgyu had been saving for.

"Taehyun~" He sat back up and pouted at him. "Give it to me please?"

"You're so shameless. No."

Beomgyu put his face in between his hands and fake sobbed. Taehyun rolled his eyes and judged him badly. Kai roared with laughter, his high pitched dolphin laughs piercing both of his friends' eardrums.

"Hyung, I will give you mine" Kai, being an angel that he was, offered.

"Really??? Tha-" Beomgyu reached his hands out to receive the card, only to receive a big slap on his hands from Taehyun.

"That's against the rules! Stop being nice to him Kai!"

Beomgyu looked at him with the eyes of a wronged puppy. Taehyun ignored him and Kai could only smile awkwardly at the two.

The game ended with Taehyun coming in first. Obviously. It was a brains and tactic game. Kai came in second and Beomgyu came in last. Beomgyu was confused and clueless about everything throughout the whole game. This made Kai wonder how he managed to become a law student and how well he could lead in the mafia. He grew concerned for his future mafia men. At least this was the side of Beomgyu that he was used to, not the serious one.

"Tsk" Beomgyu clicked his tongue. "How about we play halli galli?"

"No thank you. The last time we played in school with the others Kai cheated on every round."

Kai laughed at the memory. They were in the cafeteria with a few of Beomgyu's friends and they had decided to play the halli galli game. Kai had hidden a few cards in his sleeves beforehand. Beomgyu was the one who found out and Taehyun had tackled Kai down. Kai could have honestly died that day by Taehyun's hands.

"We should just get ready for bed. It's been a long day. Kai can sleep in the guest room."

"What about you? Want to sleep with me again? And Haruna of course." Beomgyu asked half jokingly, half seriously.

"Haruna's fine now. I don't see a reason to sleep with on the same bed."

Kai looked at Beomgyu, thinking that he might have felt dismayed by it. However, Beomgyu just laughed it off.

"I will go first. See you guys in the morning" Beomgyu said as he stretched his arms and legs when he stood up. He then left the living room and headed upstairs to his bedroom.

After a warm shower, he slipped into bed beside Haruna and shut his eyes. He was mentally exhausted. He had been having weird and accurate dreams recently. It got to be his precognition power. He thought he could only see a few seconds to a few minutes into the future but now he was more confused of this ability. He had a dream about Kai confessing the night before. And it turned out to be true. It seemed like he could see further into the future with his dreams. How did this power developed? He didn't know. All he knew was that it consumed his energy and he always felt extremely tired after having those dreams. Even though they could be very helpful, he silently hoped that he wouldn't dream again.
