? A Mercenary's Weakness | Naib Subedar

Start from the beginning

"If you are here not here to kill me...then what are you here for?" They asked though all was what greeted back to them was silence.
"To meet you?" He muttered.
"...You're lying,"  they answered back.

He chuckled.

"Why haven't I kill you yet then?" His eyes pierced daggers on them. "You were going to ask me question back there weren't you?" He straighten both their posture "What was it? And make it quick," he added turning his head to the window with a serious face "I don't have much time..." His hands were gripping their's tightly just as he said that. They stiffed their shoulders, this was the man that was watching them this entire time and possibly what they assume what his affiliation is, "What is it like beyond these walls...?" They hang their head low out of embrassement, a silly question to ask to someone who never been caged within concrete walls though he showed not the slightest of concern from their question. "I'll show you tomorrow," he informed slipping away from their window camouflaging himself with his surrounding thus when (Y/N) dashed themselves to the window wanting to see him it brought them no luck "He's one strange fellow..." they thought resting their chin with their palm as they lean against their window, they have high hopes for tomorrow from what he stated but he didn't say in the morning or night but they assume he meant in the night, his speech was vague not much information but it was enough to make them smile. After how many years, they'll finally would see or hear what's outside these walls and beyond what they saw when they attempted to leave earlier, honestly they heavily relate to the princess whom spent most of her childhood in a tower. "His name!" They jolted upon recalling that they haven't questioned about his name, they can't keep calling him 'guy'! Still their night went quick as the moon slid down letting the sun climb up.

Night soon fell once more covering the world with it's dark tones, the same person came by their window as promised and just like last time—his hood hang low. "You ready?" He reached out his hand for them to take, (Y/N) felt as if they were breaking a rule yet deep down they wanted this so badly, they didn't want to be kept in the dark forever! They needed to know what's happening beyond these walls with their own eyes, in action, to see for themselves; their once anxious face shifted into a determined one as they took his hand. "Careful," he advised, assisting them down to the grassy ground away from their room "You got yourself covered if someone comes in your room?" He muttered as he continued to hold their hand tight as they ventured and secretly made their way out of this place and onto the streets "Are a bunch of pillows over a blanket enough?" (Y/N) answered back with a question, trying to catch up to his speed "That's all?" He slightly looked behind him "Yeah. Is it not enough?" They tilted their head as they said so. He sighed "It's good enough, that won't fool them for long though," he informed finally coming to a halt.

Confetti were spread around the ground accompanied by blissful voices and upbeat music, all under the lucidity of the different and colorful lights, attached from light post to another, that hang above their heads; (Y/N) was ,nevertheless, astonished and speechless from this scene playing in front of them, a cheeky smile was illustrated on their face as their eyes beamed millions of stars like a galaxy. "First time?" He crept from behind seeing (Y/N) content face made him smile "Yes! I always seen pictures in newspapers, articles keep saying it's joyful when festivals happen. I never thought I'd attend in one!" They admitted, their voice loud and filled with excitement "So this is what is beyond the walls! Thank you–uhm..." they stopped "Naib. Naib Subedar. You don't need to introduce yourself, I already know you–the child of an ambassador, (Y/N) (L/N)," he told them. (Y/N) giggled and held his hand "Well then, you are still not done touring me around, Naib!" They pulled him in deeper into the festival "Come on! Let's have fun during the festival!" They chuckled so brightly it nearly set his soul in fire. "Your commission...the money...Naib, what are you doing..? You aren't suppose to befriend them," he thought to himself watching them play some mini games only to lose tragically "But look at them...they are adorable, kind...why would anyone want them dead?" A voice in his head replied back, out of the request that was and he had accepted, this out of all stood out for him since he couldn't bring himself to do it.
