"Then do you want to go back to my spot?" He suggests which suddenly brightened her expression which made him laugh. "That seems to have fixed the attitude."
"Are you-" She was cut off when another girl suddenly approached the two of them.
"Yuri, hi! Oh and Jay, hello!" A strange girl gleams at the two. Jay looked at her, confused, glancing at Yuri to ask her if she knew who the stranger was. The dark expression she had on her face suddenly returned, this time she looked more annoyed than ever.
"Did you need anything Seohee?" Yuri asked with a fake smile.
Jay then recalled Yuri mentioning she disliked a girl. It then hit him that maybe this girl that was standing in front of them was the one she mentioned. He didn't want to judge the stranger because he barely knew her but he couldn't be any more curious as to why Yuri seemed to very much dislike her presence.
"Ah I was just going to ask you if you finished the difficult assignment professor Lee gave us." Seohee questions her to which Yuri only nodded to.
He then lowered to Yuri's ear so he could whisper. "Don't you think you're being a bit too rude to her?" He says.
Yuri glared at him. "Believe me, if you weren't here, she'll treat me the same way." She whispered to him. She moves away from his ear and gives Jay a fake smile. "Don't you have a class in 10 minutes Jay? You should get going, bye bye now!" She pushes him away, mouthing the words 'I'll text you' to him.
Seohee looked at the two in a weird way as she watched Yuri shoved Jay away from them. He huffed in annoyance when he finally got away from her. She could've at least explained to him as to why she got rid of him. They weren't even finished talking. He stopped walking when he realized how unreasonably annoyed he was for something so trivial. He slaps himself and continued to walk towards his department.
Throughout his class, he found himself constantly glancing at his phone, only this time he wasn't anticipating a text from London. He was anticipating a text from a certain law student who had some explanation to do. By the end of the day, he still did not receive any text from Yuri. Once all his class was finished, he made his way to the law department building, the perfect excuse constructed in his head if people ask him what he was doing there.
Sorry Jake, this is your payment for making me your driver.
He waited there patiently and thankfully minutes later, Yuri came out with a tired expression on her face. When she met eyes with Jay it seemed like she was hit by a truck of realization. He crossed his arms as they both stared at each other.
"Oh I completely forgot about you!" She said, facepalming herself.
"That isn't very pleasing to hear." He says. "Alright then, explain why you shoved me away. That was extremely rude."
Yuri pushed her hair to the back before replying. "That girl likes you and believe me, our ill-fated rivalry has gotten worst after you and I suddenly got involved." She scoffs. "If I hadn't pushed you away, she would have forced himself unto you. She's pretty bold for such a two faced person."
For a minute there Jay was scared of what Yuri would say about him if they had ended up as enemies rather than friends. She already called him a single freak, he could imagine how worse it would've been if she hated him as much as she hated Seohee.
"Calm down now. So are you still up for today or are you busy?" He asked, looking at the notebooks on her arms. She shook her head and grinned. It would always be funny to him just how quick she could change her personality.
In school, she is this study-oriented, intimidating student. Whenever she's with a friend, she has this free-spirited side to her that she can only show to those she's comfortable with. And there was the other one, the vulnerable side of her. A side that she refuses to show anyone, that is until she met Jay.
"By the way, did you see Jake?" Jay asked as they ride his car.
Yuri nods while putting her seatbelt. "Yeah, he left before me. Can't really say where he's off to. You didn't see him?" Either that or his friend blatantly ignored him. He shook her head to answer her question. "Can we stop at a convenience store first? I won't buy alcohol, I swear."
He laughed. "Fine."
Stopping at the convenience store, he waited in his car because she insisted she could do it alone. He took a picture of the seat next to him and decided to post it on his story, but he wondered what caption would be appropriate. He typed: Late night drive and pressed the post button. Yuri finally returned to the car with a bag filled with snacks.
"Okay, let's go!" She cheered. Jay smiled at her enthusiasm before driving off. "Thank you for accompanying me again, Jay. Even though it's an awful day for me, I still am smiling. You really have your own way of cheering someone up." Yuri looked at him with her sad eyes.
He was filled with annoyance when he realized her ex done this to her. "What are friends for?"
But are friends really supposed to be this annoyed with someone's ex?
