Chapter 11: Battle Scars

Start from the beginning

"What's going on in here, who are you?"

Knowing their stealth had been blown, Rex and Orla lowered their hoods to the squad and everyone except Omega and Cid's, jaws drop.

"Rex?" Echo speaks.

"Oh great, another clone just what I needed. And whoever you are," Cid directed at Orla.

"You?" Tech peaked his head through, fixing his goggles higher up his nose to observe Orla.

"Last time I saw you you tried to kill me," Hunter crossed his arms.

"I didn't try to kill you, I threatened you because I thought you tried to kill my brother. If I wanted you dead you would be," she argued.

"I did try to tell you," Tech whispered but Hunter ignored him.

"You used a tracker and followed us?"

"I did that because I didn't know if you were working for the Empire. It made me very wary when you started reciting my whole life story like you were reading straight out of a file. I only engaged when you mentioned Caleb's name. If you hadn't I never would have done anything." She copied Hunter by folding her arms. Annoyed and with nothing else to say, he walked off.

"Well, Hunter did read your file, couldn't let it go actually," Echo gossiped to Orla and Rex once Hunter left the scene, "even after you fought him he wouldn't stop repeating how strong he thought you were."

"Thanks but I wasn't trying to hurt anyone, I'm just very defensive, Caleb is the only family I have left."

"We understand, Hunter especially. How did you two meet?" Echo pondered, looking at Rex. They shared a smirk and Rex answered.

"Well, that's a long story."

☆☆☆

Echo, Tech, Rex, Orla, and even Hunter gathered around the bar, sipping on drinks while Rex explained the story,

"And when the war ended one of the first things I did was contact Orla. We've been keeping a low profile, I suppose she has experience when it comes to hiding from an entire government." Rex nods at Orla and she beams proudly.

"Very low profile, Imperial files have you listed as killed in battle." Tech points out

"Yep, dead squad!" Orla joked, and they shared a fist bump.

"That's quite impressive to be able to live so freely without the Republic. How did you make money? Do you do mercenary work as well?" Tech bombarded.

"Mercenary work?" she took a sip, "absolutely not, do you know how dangerous that is? You're paying someone enough to hope that they don't give your information away to someone with more money. Do you have any idea how much debt I would be in? You're losing more money than gaining, while also risking your life and possibly blowing your cover."

Tech folded his lips together, "oh."

Orla put her head in her hands, understanding what he meant and now who Cid was.

"But isn't Cid a Jedi informative, we can trust her that much right?" Echo assumed, being the one who brought the Bad Batch to Cid in the first place.

"I don't know what kind of Jedi would be desperate enough to give information to someone from Ord Mantell but no you cannot fully trust her. They just pay her enough money so she keeps quiet. If Darth Maul were to walk in here and offer her 500,000 credits, probably more, to give him all the information about the Jedi I guarantee she would take it."

Hunter was silently thinking through all ofhe this, Orla was five steps ahead of them, she knew right from wrong when hiding from a government. She could be vital to the squad's survival, especially with Crosshair after them.
