Part 36- Against Us

"his target?" I asked confused.

"enemies prey on our weaknesses when they want revenge...that guy...hated me since day 1, I just know that he will try everything to break us apart and if it doesn't work...he will end one of us..." he explained.

"Why does he hate you so much?" I asked.

"Are you sure you want to know?" he asked me.

"The guy that tried assaulting you at the company's event not so long ago, I killed him...that was his brother" he confessed.

I knew he would admit to it. Somehow, my mouth is sealed now that he said it himself.

"You asked me back then...to promise you to never kill an innocent person...I just want you to know that I never did that. The people I killed in my life have all committed serious crimes. I would never do this to anyone like that" he added.

"I know you wouldn't. I know you well enough to confirm that" I said.

"thank you for believing in me" he thanked me.

"thank you for telling me" I thanked him back with a smile.

I'm glad he told me. I can see that it's always hard for him to approach sensitive topics like that. Mostly, because I feel like he gets afraid I take it the wrong way or get offended. But, he still tries and that's enough for me.

I was out of the office for a while to get myself an ice coffee. It was also my break time. My neck hurts from all the work I've been doing recently. I always have to postpone Aslan's meetings. He seems really busy again, I hope he's not overworking himself.

As I was making my way back to the company, my watch started beeping.

Was there a timer or something? Why is it beeping?

I kept looking at it not knowing what to do to stop the beeping when I saw a shadow being portrayed on the ground.

"it's nice to see you again" the same deep voice spoke.

I lift my head up and met with those green eyes. I took a step back immediately in fear. Will he try to kill me? I guess this is why the watch is beeping.

"Daniel" I said his name.

"Oh, you remember me? I feel special" he said smirking.

"Why are you here?" I was trying to play it cool when I was actually really scared.

"I came to check up on you...afraid that I might've scared you the other day...are you scared of me Adalina?" I hate it when he says my name as if he knew me personally.

"No...why would I be?" I asked.

"I can read your eyes kitten" who gave him the right to call me like that?

"I'm not" I lied.

"Okay, if you say so...I have something for you today" he said as my phone started ringing.

It was Aslan. I wanted to pick it up immediately just like he made me promised to him that I'd pick up his calls as soon as he would call however my curiosity took over me and I wanted to know what this man had for me.

"I'll make it fast since your man seems worried already...here" he pulled out a picture from his pocket.

I grabbed it from him as I was taking a close look at it. It was a picture of a younger Aslan, his dad and I believe his mother.

"Why are you giving me this?" I looked up to ask him but he had already disappeared.

Ya Allah, where is he now?
