"Why are you guys laughing? It's not funny. There's something very strange about him, he spooks me! But I'm not scared!" Indigo defended as they continued walking. Deleine walked backward as the three girls talked.
"Really?" Deleine asked, to which Cassia hummed confidently, "Well, that's good because he's coming back this way." Cassia let out a small squeak and turned around abruptly, causing the girls to laugh together. "I was only joking."
Cassia playfully hit Deleine's arm as they finally entered the Weasleys' section. Indigo and Deleine were still teasing Cassia and paid little attention as she greeted her family and excused the two girls who had pushed through. Cassia also had a playful encounter with George and Fred Weasley before turning back to the girls, who were slowly passing the family as they walked.
"You guys are so annoying, I am not afraid of him!" Cassia continued. "And, he is in fact a monster who will show up under our beds!"
"For what? Being friends with Indigo? It's not like we've harmed the man. And if he were to show up under anyone's bed, it would be yours because he actually likes me," Deleine teased. Cassia gasped, and Indigo covered her face, trying to suppress her laughter at the two immature girls. "All you do is quiver in fear when you're around him!"
"I do not!"
Deleine stopped in the section and cleared her throat before turning to Indigo, who stood in front of her pretending to be Lucius. She put on a quivering voice and imitated Cassia's squeaky tone, "I— Mr. Malfoy— Hello— Please don't— strike me with your wand!" The two girls exaggeratedly played out the scene before running down the section away from Cassia, who started to chase the laughing girls.
"That's not funny!" Cassia shouted.
Harry, who had watched the whole scene play out, couldn't help but observe the three girls as they finally made their way towards the Thorns, who stood not far from the Weasleys. He watched them greet the family before the World Cup started.
"Good evening! It gives me great pleasure to welcome each and every one of you to the final of the 422nd Quidditch World Cup. Let the match begin!"
The girls laughed and cheered with the crowd as they watched. For Deleine, this was the most she had honestly spoken to anyone all year. When she was with her friends, she felt a sense of belonging and freedom that was rare for her. Usually, she would sit alone in her room, quietly reading a book until Cho came in to let her know dinner was ready.
At the dinner table with the Changs, conversation about the summer would happen around her, but she often stayed silent, leaving gaps that were filled by others. Being with Cassia and Indigo transformed her into one of the most extroverted people you'd meet, especially considering she was considered one of the quietest Hufflepuffs in her house.
