?Chapter 34: That Short Lady?

"Calliope. Oh, thank goodness you're okay! We got your message!" Rapunzel leaned down, "What are you doing here? What happened with Cassandra?"

The redhaired woman took in a breath, "I escaped, but your friend is still at the Spire. She's after the Mind Trap, an artifact that would give her control over the members of the Brotherhood." Your eyes widened.

Brotherhood?

You remembered that word in the note that Varian's father was going to give him. Was he a part of the brotherhood? That was news to you.

Eugene stepped forward, "The Brotherhood? Like Adira and Hector? What would she want with them?" He asked, his arms wrapped around himself.

"What do I look like? Her biographer?" Calliope remarked.

Rapunzel rolled her eyes, "Ugh. Whatever Cass plans to do with this Mind Trap, we cannot let her have it."

A rattling noise was heard under the ice, something that was only heard by you and Eugene, "Wait! What was that?" He asked, the noise was heard again.

You looked down, seeing a shadow under the ice, "Is something moving under there?" Eugene turned around and looked at Pascal, who was currently left to sew the balloon.

"Sew, Pascal. Sew like you've never sewn before!" Eugene called. You spun around and grabbed the needle and thread from the Chamelion, sitting down and quickly sewing up the fabric. You ignored the commotion, trying to get this done as quickly as possible. You glanced up and spotted monsters hoping out of the water.

"Guys! We'll keep you covered! Just sew!" Rapunzel called over to you, you sent her a nod and tried to rush while still making a stitch that would hold together, "And Calliope is... hiding."

You quickly finished and set up the balloon, you lit the flame and the balloon started to go up, "Get in guys!' You called, getting the attention of the group. They ran and jumped into the balloon. You all flew up higher, Rapunzel looked down and noticed Calliope still on the ground. She flicked out her hair and grabbed the woman, pulling her up to the balloon.

Calliope did a bit of bragging, making you roll your eyes. You let out a sigh before feeling the balloon turn around, you noticed two of the monsters holding on to some of the ice, almost falling. Rapunzel grabbed them with her hair and dropped them off on the other ice spike. The monsters looked up at you all shocked.

"There it is." Rapunzel said, pointing ahead, "The Spire." It looked exactly how you expected The Spire to look. Rapunzel glanced over at the group, "Let's just hope we're not too late and Cass hasn't gotten that box open."

Calliope looked away, "Speaking of the box, where's the key?" She asked. You glanced over, that was suspicious.

"Oh, "Rapunzel chuckled, "I have it right here in my bag, which has its very own security system. See?" You glanced over to see Pascal peek out of the bag. It didn't take long for you to get to The Spire. You landed within a couple of minutes. Quickly, you all got out of the balloon, looking around skeptically, "Where is Cassandra?" Rapunzel asked.

After not finding her outside, the group of you decided to check inside. The door creaked open. You all walked through the halls, something about this place seemed ominous to you. Calliope walked forward and picked up the small box from its place.

"Here it is." The woman turned around and held her hand out towards Rapunzel, "Alright now give me the key so we can make sure the Mind Trap is still here."
